interesting to hear Patsos this week.
- "This is not a quick fix, this is a five year rebuild. We dont have guys getting arrested or failing out. We have good citizens and no off-court problems"
- "Lavon has learned a lot. He has been scouted. They know he cant go right. I mean he can go right but ... hes good in the open floor hes got to tighten his handle in the open court. What do you do when they take away what you do best?"
- They tried to get him to talk about Clareth. Patsos responded that that was the one guy he couldnt talk about. He mentioned fisher and wormley both playing really well. He hinted that wormley may see time at the two which leads me to believe he may be seeing Clareth a good amount at the three.
- he continues to feel the program is close. I agree. We REALLY need some athleticism, speed, length and defense in the back court. That was without a doubt addressed in recruiting.

I agree with most of Jimmy's points but I don't like hearing the 5-year plan thing (unless he means get to the sweet 16 is 5 year or something!). Most people thought it would take 3 years before Siena made a strong push at the MAAC championship.
We got ahead of schedule with the strong finish and the CBI championship last year and injuries derailed the train this year as we fell back. Next year Siena should absolutely challenge for the MAAC championship. That doesn't mean we'll win it but we should be in the top 3 or 4, have a winning record and have a legitimate chance to win the tournament at the TUC next March.
There will be no more blaming Mitch (not that JP has done that) as the team will be 75% made up of his players. We will have four freshmen but the core of the team will be experienced juniors (including a 4th year JR).
Jimmy's fault or not Siena fans have waited too long to be serious contenders in the MAAC. The pressure is on to make it happen in 2015-2016.

When you look at this roster, it's mostly JP's players, and of the guys that aren't, Poole and Hymes are 1000 pt scorers, JO is a starter. Bisping was MVP of that CBI, Silas is a starter. Oliver is a decent player. I don't see the deadspots. It would be one thing if he was waiting for these guys to leave.

Four year plan is fine but needs to show improvement in year three, if he can't win the MAAC in year four with Long, Wright, and Ogunyemi as seniors then he's never winning anything.

It would be one thing if he was waiting for these guys to leave. 1000 points dont mean SHITE if the wins dont come with it and/or youre one dimensional it is obvious that some of you dont grasp the weakness of this team. Also failing to recognize the spot Jimmy was put in recruiting up until this next class. He was left having to bring in the recruits from Loyola. He took a gamble on Cole and lost. The CBI gave false hope in my opinion. I think the team, with effort, backed into that championship which of course Siena money played a hand in with hosting. None of the teams in that tournament were stellar. He cant just unload all of the current players nor can he magically give experience to the guys he brought in from his Loyola recruiting. He played a full year to see where they lay and now recruited to fill the holes that are left. The limitations of the roster force choice between inexperience and lesser talent that holds experience. Without disparaging those departing, the incoming offer skills SORELY missed and of the greatest weakness the team currently has. Some seem incapable of grasping how this could be so. Watch and see as the team turns for the better in rapid fashion going forward. Players can be talented in certain respects but not providing the abilities necessary for the team unit to succeed. Patsos wants to press and run, applying defensive pressure. Tough to do so with slow afoot, out of position due to necessity or players giving up a foot or more to their opponent. The team needed to play approaching flawless to win. Adding length athleticism speed and depth coupled with scoring ability, toughness, experience to those returning and the turnaround is in the visible future. yes a good amount depends on the ability of freshman to contribute but Clareth Fisher and Wormley are all seasoned against soon to be D1 talent. They dont need to be stars right away but contribute.

Don't forget Bisping too. Marquis, Lavon, JO and Bisping as juniors/seniors the next two years. Siena should be all set and ready to go. If the frosh class appears to be as good as it looks on paper then the transition to when those four graduate won't be that big when they (incoming frosh) are juniors. You have to keep recruiting. I hope Jimmy learned that. It's not Loyola. It's pretty obvious he mailed it in on the recruiting trail last year and it came back and hurt us when the injuries hit. Siena won't win the MAAC every year or even most years but there is no reason why they shouldn't ALWAYS in the mix for the title with their resources, fan support, facilities, media coverage etc..sure once in a while you don't fire, fine, but a 5 year gap is completely unacceptable in the MAAC (A10 would be a different story not in this league).

Sounds like it's year 2 of a 5 year plan, don't sweat it man! Next year should be better.
