I like Nico and I like the get but if it was really MTS telling them after we posted about him, it's kind of like Mitch getting Evan Hymes by accident again. What does that say? Still, I guess better the hint was taken, acted upon, and the deal closed than not. It's a joke with some of us guys on the board... I didn't tip the staff off (but I will take credit if you insist!) They were already on Nico back in December. I will say that the coaching staff still needs a shake up next year. It is still too Baltimore. We need to have a Philly/South Jersey and/or New England/NYC guy on the staff. Ah ok. Just sounded like something you would actually do.

Which one of those areas will be a focus for Mike the DOBO?

Nice pick up. Two way player with toughness and mean streak. Potential to be lock down defender, and good scorer. I hope he gets the time to develop his potential; as usual the board is heaping a ton of expectation on the kid.

I knew this yesterday but I know how to keep a secret Welcome Nico I was his first coach when he was 4 years old. Lavon and Nico played clinic together at Gardenville Rec center. I am so happy to see those 2 back together. #WhenItAllStarted PPC how was Nico still available ? When I see this kid play, I see the total package, he can finish at rim, nice mid range game, and I think he is shooting about 40% from 3.. he has high major athleticism, did re classifying screw up his recruitment that bad? I see as a 2016 recruit he had offers from several high majors Its a long story that is better off left behind but worked out great for us. Nico was killing it on the EYBL stage vs some of the best and he had HM interest along with the size for his position to play on any level. At the end of the day his camp wanted a fit and I believe they found it with us. Glad they did not wait for the results of senior year or Spring AAU. That's what the big boys want. Instead Greg and the staff showed them how much we love him and the rest is history

I think from defensive and toughness standpoint he will be ready. He will be good with the pressure defense and pressing style Pastos like.

Don't expect him to be a savior or even the ROY (though that would be nice) but he will fill a need - athletic ability and someone who can shoot (create his own shot too). While he won't be guaranteed to start - Nico will have every chance to winning at SG starting job. Next year he'll be surrounded by four juniors (assuming Brett RS as a 4th year junior) in the starting line-up. I'd be ecstatic if Nico could give us 8-10 PPG (in 20-22 minutes a game) next year.

It won't happen over night.

I'm not sure what Siena has coming, but Nico will start over what Siena has returning. He is battle tested as Slim said and a heck of a competitor. He can score in more ways than what Siena currently has at the 2. Big enough to allow Patsos to go with 3 guards and defend the SF position. I think he is capable of playing at a little higher level, which should bode well for Siena in out of conference games.

I see a lot of Hasbrouck in his game. I hope he turns into that type of leader. Great get for the program. This shot in the arm was needed.
Now we need a compliment to him. A kid with good size (6'4") that shoot the 3 all day. My boy up north (LaRose) fits the bill, or you can find them in the NE Prep league too. I'll settle for a little less athleticism if he can drain a 3 whenever he catches it. We need a Scott Knapp in this class.
As for a 5th kid, which I think will happen, because I do think one more current player leaves. I'd only use that scholly on a 5th year guy that can help us make a serious run next year, or I'd save it for mid season transfer that always seems to come up, but we never have the money avaiable.

Nico will add to our versatile arsenal along with Wormley and Fisher. Guys that can do more than one thing and play both ways

Great news. Kid looks like he's the total package. Good to read he can play D, something we sorely need. Welcome Nico!!!

Who"s LaRose? Just wondering I do know the NE prep league well from placing kids there. I agree I'm fan of prep really gets kids ready long term and most are physically n mentally ready to play from day 1.

Nico will add to our versatile arsenal along with Wormley and Fisher. Guys that can do more than one thing and play both ways Fischer or Wormley are not versatile or two way players like Nico. Wormley can't really score but can play defense with good length, Fischer solid skill big but not great defender that willl need get tougher for next level. Nico is ready and could be impact guy. He fits the role of guys who thrive in the MAAC such as Beamon, Chavugn Lewis, Zaid Hearst, Isaiah Williams, Malcolm Gilbert. Guys who can score but have toughness to compete as well. Good get for Siena.
