That is some solid smack.
If you find that compelling you have a lot to learn about statistics. That number is fudged in a lot of different ways.
-First of all the stat is not well researched. Lavon played 26 minutes in a loss to Iona and 22 in a loss Albany. The stat is already wrong. Maybe you shouldn't blindly trust a stat some anonymous source PMs someone who is known for trying to start trouble.
-You can't throw out the games in which Lavon played 0 minutes just because the team played terribly and lost 75% of them. If you include these (after all he played fewer than 27 minutes) it brings the total to 1-7 if he plays more than 27 minutes and 7-5 otherwise. Not as damning.
-27 is an arbitrary endpoint. It's only selected because he played 27 minutes in a win, so whoever came up with this wanted to choose it to help his case. I could select an equally arbitrary number, say 23. The Saints are 5-8 if Lavon plays 23 minutes or more. 3-4 otherwise. That's essentially the same win percentage. I'm sure no one thinks 23 is some sort of sweet spot and 4 extra minutes will sink the team.
-It doesn't control for the quality of opponent. Siena's opponents have an RPI over 15 spots better in the games Lavon has played more than 27 minutes (193.5 vs. 208.7).
-You are trying to imply that Long playing hurts the team. Even if there was a statistical correlation here (hint: there's not), it doesn't rule out the reverse causality explanation. Perhaps Lavon gets complacent and fouls more when the team is winning and thus plays less in wins. I'm not making that argument, but it's more plausible than what you suggest. Lavon also sits when the team is up big (e.g. Quinnipiac game).
Better not put this in your portfolio when you apply for that job at Elias.
You can make statistics say some pretty ridiculous things.
Hey speaking of ridiculous stats the team is 1-4 when Jimmy Merrill plays. Patsos has gotta stop playing this guy. But if he plays exactly 1 minute the team is undefeated. Maybe he should put him in for the tip and then take him right out? Better have his stopwatch out though. The team is 0-4 if he plays less than a minute or more than a minute.
Point is, if you think this team is better with Lavon on the bench, you are wrong. If you are just saying this to bait someone on a message board (as I suspect is the case)... you are even more in the wrong.
It's bad enough scrolling through all of that garbage on here. I'm not going to let you pretend that you have actual evidence on your side. (I was going to say facts but that is a loaded term around here.)
