Siena is at least 0-2 on autograph session days. We're there more than two?

+1,000,000,000...............! We must be the easiest team to scout in the MAAC. The only in-game adustments we make is where Jimmy sits on the bench. He does try to vary his coaching style - sometimes yelling at the team from the front of the huddle, sometimes from the side with an assistant's face if front of his, sometimes from behind the huddle, but ALWAYS at the players that came out. It is hard to determine who the scout coach is for each game as he seems to like to take out his frustrations at Luke first (age probably a player), then Lucious, sometimes Garrett, even Dan feels the wrath. Greg seems to avoid it - mostly ignores it by actually watching the game in progress while he gets to smell what Jimmy had for lunch, brunch, happy hour, etc.! It's getting old and moldy. Our lack of athleticism, speed and synched offense has been laid bare. Wait till next year is not even a solace now! Good grief Charley Brown how did we get into this mess? Mitch may have started the slide but this staff took the path to and over the cliff!

A lot of people have talked about changes to the staff. The only name I've seen mentioned is Ruland, who I seriously doubt would want the job (especially as 2nd assistant at this level). So my question (2 parts) is: who would want the job and how much impact could they make?

That's a very, very good question. Ruland flamed out in his latest position as HC and was fired last year; remember, he is JP's "good friend" according to the verbal ground work before the appearance at the Fairfield game. He is also on record as saying that he thinks the staff has assembled a 'good squad'. I don't know if he hasn't had any offers or if he needed a 'break' from the grind, but maybe, just maybe he comes into 'help his good friend'. As for the other positions, I'm sure there is a DOBO somewhere that thinks the 3rd assistant job is worth a roll of the dice just to move up the ladder. In fact, we have some recent graduates that might be interested in this position; knowing they will be supported by the Siena Family. Just like building a playing career in Europe, these young guys have to start somewhere. I would equate these positions to playing in Syria or Turkey where bombs going off on a regular basis are just part of the price you pay for staying in the game to move onward and upward.

He took what he thought was the safe route the last two hires, Mitch and Jimmy and look where we are. As long as he's in control Siena is doomed to mediocrity at best.

Jimmy's comment after the game of being happy with a split this going into this weekend but thought then liked their chances of taking 2 after Friday night. You beat Marist on friday night....... Its not even worth reading anything media coverage about this program right now. Jimmy creates his own headlines for the joke of a writer Singelais.

The 8 AM Mass' sermon had more energy on Sunday than Siena.
It's one thing to play hard, compete, and still get beat by another team. As a fan, I can tolerate that. It's quite another to be sloppy, flat, and let a team walk all over you on your home court. It was the kind of performance that will drive away casual fans.

Our only recent grad who Jimmy could find would be Kenny. Nobody else is from Baltimore.

If JP and Co don't get 2 impact players this year I will be on board with blaming him. If he cant recruit to fit the coaching style he wants to play then that is a huge red flag. Until then I will hold judgment and try to enjoy whatever it is Siena plays at time this season.
I will say this - this team does lack heart and that is a scary thing. You can only teach and give a player so much direction, if the heart is no in it then it really does not matter. A team this limited athletically needs heart and has to play hard. 34% shooting - it does not matter who is coaching. 17 TOs - that to me means the player have no pride in how they play the game. Maybe the reason Q plays bad on Sundays is because he is playing 38 min on Friday, I find that hard to believe because he is 19 and should be in good shape but who knows. To me it looks like this team plays with no heart or pride and that has to come from and be on the players.

He's had 1 or 2 high turnover games, but even then, he's grabbing boards, playing d, getting steals and blocks. I can't remember any game I would say he was "bad".

There's plenty of AAU guys out there that are well connected to TALENT pools. We have 2 guys connected in Baltimore, 3 if you included the head coach, and one who really doesn't get the chance to bring in anyone from upstate NY (where we should be concentrating on). So either let him do his job, or get a guy connected to some kids that we do want/need here.

Only game he was awful in was Vermont. The day after Wolfe left. He and Lavon were pouting the whole game.

Blame D'Arg if you want to, but anyone who thinks he had any real input on who Fran's or Mitch's successor would be is mistaken, IMHO. Both hires were made by Father Kevin. We all know that to have been the case with Mitch, and what I have heard is that Jimmy was identified by the former President as the successor well before Mitch coached his last game. What should D'Arg have done - threaten to resign? Who among us would have done so? Siena does not have a strong AD who has the authority to make the most prominent hiring decision at the College. I hope that the Trustees are tired enough about what has happened with the last two hires to put a provision in Brother Ed's contract that gives him no authority on the next coaching hire.

Good post - I had heard Jimmy was the choice way before Mitch was gone, but I assumed it was John who made that decision. Thanks for the clarification and maybe "70 is right on some of his posts/rants. If we want to be a consistnt winner we need to emulate what those conistent winners do with their programs
