I'll bite.. what did he offer? To take him to dinner if he came to visit? He had no scholarship to offer... this is all pretty silly and far off the main thrust of the thread, which is how is Jimmy doing? My opinion is that he is doing no worse than Fran, save for a couple fortuitous breaks that Fran got in his second year. Not every kid with some talent is dying to come to Siena. If you want to talk about actual successful recruiting battles won by Fran against "up competition", that is one thing. To wrestle in the muck and the mire over walk-ons is another. As the popular aphorism has it... "never wrestle in the mud with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig loves it". Amen

Hockey Guy conveniently leaves out Ubiles had big East and A10 offers, Jackson had A10 offer ( Richmond in fact committed to Siena on way home from his official visit) Wignot had official visits to not only basketball power Penn state but also Temple , OD had 37 scholarship offers and of course his last guy Fran took with him was borderline top 100 player Basabe. Nobody is saying there is anything wrong with under the radar type players- but when your entire recruiting portfolio consists of them , you are seldom going to get an “impact” player. And that’s what this thread was about

Jimmy needs to show he can go get a player that is actively recruited GW, LaSalle, SBU, Duquense, GEorge MAson, Drexel. Competing with Wagner, Lonwood, Florida Gulf Coast, Longwood, UMBC doesn't cut it day in and day out. Only Brandwijk so far seems to have had GW in his final list. Maybe Fisher was in the mix with a few but not sure. None of the others took visits to the bigger schools so I am skeptical on "offers" that kids got. Offical visits are usually a real indicator of interest

Tony and bigsaint, you guys are like the guys who drool over the preseason all-league picks. It isn't about what someone thinks you can do before you actually do anything, it is about what you do. Let me explain. Tony points out that Jackson had an offer from Richmond. When his career was done he had scored 1164 points in 118 games (he was a "2 guard). Today, Evan has 1144 points in 108 games, mostly as a point guard, and with VERY limited minutes in games the past 2 years. Rob Poole has 1228 points in 106 games. Neither Rob nor Evan had offers from Richmond or any A10 school for that matter. Owen, despite his offers, failed to crack the 1,000 point scorer list playing in the MAAC for 4 seasons. Kyle Griffin was not only recruited by the A10, he played in the A10. Brandon Walters played in the Big East! What did they do in the MAAC? Sure you can say, so what? If they are being recruited by "up conferences" they are better players. I say if they are, and they still come to Siena, with rare exception (see Edwin.. and WHY he came to Siena) then they were just being recruited as "roster fillers" or "projects" and no one is going to build their team around them. Tell me which of the "up level" guys I mentioned YOU would build a team around?

Now hockeyguy wants to compare Hymes to CJ or Owen , talking about Hymes "limited minutes" while ignoring the fact CJ and Owen played "limited minutes" behind Ubiles and Hasbrouck and BOTH missed numerous games with injury? Post ALL the stats.

Tell me which of the "up level" guys I mentioned YOU would build a team around? As soon as you compared Clarence Jackson to Evan Hymes-- you lost a lot of credibility, its clear you dont understand. And as for Poole had no interest-- why do you post this stuff when its clear you have no idea what you are talking about? Rob Poole is the last Fran recruit- and was very highly thought of, he committed to Siena in his Junior season. He chose Siena over Minnesota and had offers from , Delaware, Rider, Penn State, Fairfield, among others. Seriously you should just read recruiting posts and try to learn

A lot of this goes back to the way Patsos has always recruited for the flex. Big strong guards and jump shooting bigs, pass first point guards. He thinks it's all about mismatches on offense and tough defense and rebounding. I could see him recruit long, bouncy wings that can press and play man defense over shooters and guys who are going to take you off the bounce. Just think that is what people should be prepared for. I really hope that I am wrong and he gets a couple offensive minded, athletic guards who can score multiple ways.

I don't think he was the first choice of anyone on this board, for some including myself, he wasn't even on my radar. However, after he was hired, seeing and hearing him, I supported him. It's not over, he's hitting a rough patch, team needs more talent, but the real thing missing is team chemistry. Not to mention three missing starters! Missing 2 starters. Silas was not starting this year, by anyone's account, until he got injured. Then certain people decided he was a "missing" starter. So how would you classify the loss of a 6'9" senior that started 53 of his 68 games at Siena? Insignificant?

Guys in 2 years we will either be happy with JP or he is a bust...some of these arguments are hysterical. The board use to be informative and decent convo, now it's mostly speculation and bitching. It's cool to complain or get frustration out but wow some ppl complain just to complain.

You’ve been downplaying the loss of Silas all year- trying to say the whole board was saying he wouldn’t play.( which isnt anywhere near true) Silas would have still been a significant part of the team and doubly so with loss of Brett. And who knows the first time Jo went for 2 points and zero rebounds Imoh very well may have been back starting . You are the guy that has been downplaying the loss of Imoh- please let it go, whether he was a starter or 7th or 8th man its clear he would have been in playing group. And his loss is even more profound coupled with loss of Brett—so let it go, you are like the thought police if anyone dares say the loss of Imoh, Brett is hard to overcome.

It's cool to complain or get frustration out but wow some ppl complain just to complain. I agree. The key word is "frustration". I don't know why people let this get to them. Keep positive for the Team, coach, Admin, Siena, etc.. Unless you can make Siena (coach/admin) change just help the team with support. Bitching doesn't help anyone but yourself, and sucks energy for us fans trying to support this team (as is).
