well he was at Loyola 8 years, who were his impact recruits other than transfers, i don't know. Much harder place to recruit. Siena should be easier, but it's a point I bought up a month ago. JP needs to expand his recruiting base. He's way too caught up in the DC/Balt area. There's a lot of good kids all across the state, HERE.

I don't think he was the first choice of anyone on this board, for some including myself, he wasn't even on my radar. However, after he was hired, seeing and hearing him, I supported him.
It's not over, he's hitting a rough patch, team needs more talent, but the real thing missing is team chemistry. Not to mention three missing starters!

Silas was not starting this year, by anyone's account, until he got injured. Then certain people decided he was a "missing" starter.

Year 2 is certainly not the end of the world or as bad as some here may believe, given the injuries, circumstances, off court issues. But it's DEFINITELY not going as well as we hoped it would. More signs then not pointing forwards mediocre program

Mediocre at best. That's my concern. You want to market the top team in the area at top dollar tickets and pay to scmooze with the coach receptions, then unquestionnably you need to be the top team in the area.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little concerned about Jimmy's recruiting and the direction of the program. However I am in no way giving up on him one year and nine games into his tenure as Siena head coach. Someone said it the next 6 months will tell us a lot about the direction of the program. Not only how we deal with the adversity this year (and there has been a lot) but what impact players Jimmy signs during the spring period. We need two really good players. Jimmy is personable and has a lot of sell with Siena. He needs to get in there with the other good mid-majors and win some battles. Of course he won't win all of them but he needs to at least be in the "game" to win some of them.
Also a shake-up on the coaching staff is possible. Just like there is attrition on the roster there is also some on many coaching staffs. A coach will Philadelphia/South Jersey ties might be very helpful an area where Siena has been pretty successful over the years.
We have a good core coming back next year so if we can add two talented guys and get the injured guys back we could be pretty good next year and beyond.
But seeing is believing - Jimmy needs to "up" his game and recruit Siena some blue chippers. Get the job done coach and silence the doubters please!

A long post but I haven't been posting much lately. So let's look at Fran's recruits over the years (based on their first year on the roster).
Year 1 - first the "WhoDat's?"
Joao Braga Marco Johnson Erik Harris Justin Maxwell
Year 1 - A winner
Kenny Hasbrouck - Jacksonville (they ACC or SEC?) took him to McDonalds, Fran bought him his first lobster at Jacks. Good recruiting job.
Year 2
Darius Haddix - Philly is the City of Brotherly Love James Carr Corey Magee Edwin Ubiles - Thank You Peter Sheehan, former AD at Poughkeepsie, mentor to Edwin and Siena grad. Ronald Moore - It pays to have friends, Fran gets a call about a kid with no offers, sees him play once and offers. Alex Franklin - Might have been Fran's first real "recruit"
Year 3
Steven Priestly Josh Duell - Local boy comes home Clarence Jackson - his number won't be in the rafters Ryan Rossiter - A NYC (Staten Island) kid, not Philly or Baltimore - Thanks Mitch
Year 4
Kyle Downey - A good MAAC level recruit Connor Fenlon - It pays to have friends in Florida Owen Wignot - serviceable MAAC player, may have had an offer from basketball power Penn State.
Year 5
Kyle Griffin - From the A10 Brandon Walters - From the Big East
What did either ever do in the MAAC?
Davis Martens Jonathan Breeden O.D Anosike - Another Staten Island guy... did having Rossiter play a role?
So there are Frans recruits during his tenure at Siena... How bad do you think Jimmy is doing now?

So it's hard to compare your list to anything.

Like we always say you need 1 difference maker in each class, 1 kid who will contribute and then start by junior year and the others are role players as you can't play much bmore than 8.
Year 1 - wright is a difference maker and long is good, white's a role player if he stays Year 2 - no difference makers but Willem could be really good and Paige will probably always be a role player.
To be fair he wasn't left with much and needed to fill a roster and ships have been out of balance by class.
Year 3 - fisher could be the difference maker and Wormly for now is a role player until proven he is better than his offers show.
With remaining ships we need a solid starter for sure who can play right away next year and another kid who had a skill that can be used right away line 3 point shooting or rebounding
Just my 2 cents

Luca.. I am surprised that you didn't pick up on Just-in Love Smith as well. I agree all of my sins of omission clearly detract from Fran's complete body of work as a master recruiter, I apologize. I also apologize that the walk-ons make the lists too difficult for you to compare to anything, but then maybe any list of over three things might send you for a similar loop.

You were wrong so I'm stupid? Lmao. You including walk ons makes in hard to compare, not understand. How you can call walk ons Fran's "recruits" is hard to understand. And I didn't forget Smith, I wouldn't include walk ons in my list of recruits. Unless the coach recruited them, like Gottfried.

Both Fenlon and Smith ended up with scholarships... Gottfried, so far, not (but possible). I doubt Jimmy sat and watched too many of his games, maybe saw him in some AAU tournaments but it is not like he offered the kid. Gottfried for the moment is "a walk on". The point to UNDERSTAND is that even the venerable Fran didn't have very many "impact players" that he actually recruited. He got some help with a couple guys in one class and other than that, in 5 years got Kenny, Franklin, RR and OD, otherwise, not too much to write home about. I'd say getting Wright and Long in his first class and WB and maybe Paige in the second class has Jimmy at least even as a recruiter.

Then he asked Cam to walk on for a year.
