Bisping wasn’t playing well but he was giving us 9 and 5—something our 19 year old centers are struggling to do in 2 games combined let alone one- Brett had to be guarded , he was a wide body and was very good at setting picks – he was tough and could box out. So while Brett wasn’t giving us eye popping numbers, we are getting nothing out of his replacement – so yeah it’s a big loss. If you can’t see that you’re not being honest. I still maintain the silver lining in Brett getting hurt it will accelerate the development of JO and WB. Maybe even Jimmy Paige get a chance to show what he can do and shine- we desperately need someone to step up or its going to be a long season He was also averaging 4.2 fouls and 1.5 turnovers. His shooting %s are all down. Strangely his ft% is going down each year. 8.7 pts and 4.7 rebounds are both down from last year while the team is scoring more points. Bisping is a loss but not a big one. Siena will certainly feel the impact a little. It's not like losing Wright or Poole (or Poole shooting like he is right now). They probably don't win either of the games they lost since he's been out even if they had him

To be fair, you shouldn't be using this season's stats and performance. At the inter-squad scrimmage before the Gannon game, Brett was in the best shape of anyone on the floor. He got every lose ball and rebound. That was the beginning of the end of Wolfe who was embarrassed by Brett's will (and coach's mocking). He would have been a very important part of this team as his fitness improved.

Its why i refuse to attempt to predict how they will do. They practice against an awful defense

In summary, Siena is going nowhere. I think at this point that's pretty obvious The MAAC looks very pedestrian and that's being kind. We aren't a good team right now but still plenty of time to "right the ship" even with the injuries. The only team on paper where it would be considered a big upset if we won is Iona. Monmouth has looked good but they also looked bad losing at Fordham (like Siena). Quinnipiac has not looked good and we already whipped them - unless Gio McLean magically becomes eligible I think they've got issues. Rider appears to be better. Canisius and Fairfield are both 2-0 in the league but I have to see more to believe in them. Manhattan has no guard play. St. Peter's has struggled but Desi Washington is back they could still be strong. I still think Siena can win 12 or 13 MAAC games which could very well put us in the top 3.

ill have to follow hoopjunkie around. Stop with the Silas Bisping excuses. Athleticism, Speed and Talent are lacking with this team. Neither of the two injured really provide the answers to those issues. EVERY team has looked more athletic and faster/quicker. And THAT is saying something given eight games in and our RPI is 225. Against teams ranked 170 or worse, Siena is 2-4 with two of those losses coming on the home floor. Six of the eight games played to date have come against some REALLY soft opponents. Siena has played only TWO teams with a winning record. Six of the next seven are against similar caliber opponents (137, 204, 188, 217, 81, 206, 217). Something to keep an eye on... five of the next seven games are HOME. If Siena is still losing home games at a good clip in mid January then I think we have some major issues. There is time to "right the ship" Who said we don't need some more athletes? You're trying to hard to down play the loss of Silas and Bisping for the year. It's going to hurt. We're very thin upfront with only two legit bigs, and it's a frosh and a soph. Did you have Siena picked 5th or worse at the beginning of the year? Because it sounds like you did.

I have to agree-- he keeps beating a dead horse-- Contrary to Saintsfan says-yes the loss of Silas and Bisping will hurt and yes we all know and have known for a long time Siena need more athletes- Jimmy was in Baltimore last few days, bet he saw more than Fisher while there

3-6... 3 if everything broke right. 6 if things derailed. Right now, 3-4 is looking like a reach. Young bucks are going to need rapid development. With Bisping 4 might be in reach. 4 is probably the ceiling right now

Tony, you're telling me the two board moderators didn't have a pre-season prediciton for the Saints?? SF picked us 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th! lol ps--I had a 100% healthy team 3rd this year.

Perhaps you prefer the monkey flinging ^%^$ approach, I don't. Strangely enough, the reason I refused to narrow it down to a single pick is EXACTLY the way they've played. All over the map. 10 minute good run here, 10 minute worst in college basketball there, 5 minutes of bewilderment and another 5 of awful. Teams have figured out how to handle last year's freshman and those freshman-now-sophomores haven't made the adjustment. Took a wait and see approach to see if the fouling was fixed... it is OBVIOUSLY not as we lead the country... yet again. Essentially, I was right.

We have to cut down on the fouls and rebound better. Those are the main issues that were magnified after the injuries.

I am hoping we can cut down on the fouls and increase rebounding sooner rather than later.

I have to agree with saintsfan regarding fouls. Some of the kids just don't get it or are lazy or both. UA decidedly slower but knew basketball and moved their feet did not reach. Perhaps Long can watch from the bench and learn. Wish JO would learn to dunk. Stop with the finesse and dunk the ball or try and foul the front court out of your opposition. If the team gets the mental aspect of the game down may, may be ok.

Let me get this right- if we had our MVP from last year, this year we would only be marginally better? Pretzel logic and comical! Dude, if you think Bisping is the answer...just quit now. You lack understanding of the game. Bisping wasn't helping much before he got hurt. Don't take it personal, I just have a better grasp of the situation. It's a whole different story of liking basketball and understanding it. I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you. It takes a genius to look at a body of work of 4 or 5 games when the guy is coming off of mono(lost weight and strength) to project that he is no longer any good! Maybe if you looked at his body of work over say, a complete season, like last year you would understand how valuable he is to our success. Probably asking too much of your superior basketball knowledge to comprehend that.

Today (ie this year) he hasn't been what they've needed. This isn't all on Brett. No need for you to get your panties in a bunch

We all need to just let it go. A lot of things went wrong this year. lets get competitive, get the young guys some playing time and experience and the next 2 signing in spring with probably define Jimmy's tenure at Siena - two good impact players and we are off to races..too more role players and we are looking at a 500 season next year
