Guys, take a deep breath. This is Coach Patsos's 2nd year and his contract runs for another 4 seasons. That is the time frame within which to evaluate his performance. He turned Loyola around and is working on turning Siena not around but back to where it was under some, but not all, of his predecessors. Talk of his shortcomings is a bit premature and sure as hell Siena isn't going to pull the plug on him anytime in the near future. I believe he will be the guy to take Siena back to what it was and that he will be here for the long haul. I am not a Siena grad but an Albany resident who follows Siena hoop and has followed it since it went to D1 even at the damn ARC where you had to walk across the frozen tunda from the parking lot. I invite anyone who is serious with their "Jimmy has to go" talk to visit the Holy Cross board: crossports.com to see what the premature firing of a coach can do to a program. They have a number of armchair coaches as well but at the end of the day none of them are college level savants basketball wise. I also don't see why folks criticize Lavon Long's mom for her opinion. Do you really think a mother can possibly be unbiased? Take her post with that in mind. My Christmas wish for this Board is that we all stop criticizing the players. In my section (119) there are 2 guys with Siena shirts who constantly yell criticism to the Siena players to the point where one lady yelled at them to shut up. They too are part of the Jimmy has to go clique but I don't know if they are posters here. I am one of the guys in 119 who critiques the players and I wear a Siena shirt, but I do not feel Jimmy should be let go. I have also been a season ticket holder since the ARC and have been in my seats sine the move to the TUC. Jimmy has my support but I will also voice my critiques. All season ticket holders pay good money to be there. I for one expect the players to play hard and coaches to at the very least have the team prepared. $300 seats but don't dare critize student athtletes on a $120,000 scholarship or the coach. Sit on your hands and only be positive.

I'm fine with guys on the board blowing off steam. But everyone needs to keep this in mind, Jimmy has a 5 year contract he isn't ( nor should he) go anywhere for quite some time. We all want to win, nobody more than the staff.

I think things will get better on here if the team can go on a winning streak soon. Here is a stat for you. Since November 13, 2010, the day of the first game of the Mitch era, there have been 537 in-season days of Siena basketball through December 27 (day before the first possible day Siena could have a winning record). In those 537 days, Siena has had a winning overall record for only 18 of those days. That's about 3% of the time winning record, 97% non-winning or losing record. Wow that's a lot of losing basketball. For those still reading, the team had a winning overall record from November 16 through November 22 of 2011 and from March 26 through April 5 of 2013. Of the 537 days, Mitch was 7/344 (2%) and Jimmy is 11/193(6%).
This compares to the previous 5 years wherein Siena only had a non-winning overall record in 52 total in-season days (26 days each in Fran's first two seasons. So, put another way, Jimmy has already racked up more than three times as many non-winning in-season days, 182 versus 52, in his first two seasons. Couple that with 2 losses to UAlbany and this factual representation sheds some light as to why there is steam being let out on the part of some fans.
As bad as this is, it could be turned around quickly and forgotten if the team could go on a three game winning streak and never look back. @4-4 radford, 5-4 Cornell, 4-6 Bucknell. One at a time, and it won't be easy. Get it done.

Yup and if we can win the next three OOC games (and finish with a 5-4 record in the non-conference regular season) Jimmy will be 26-23 after 49 games at Siena. Guess who also was 26-23 after 49 games at Siena? Fran McCaffery. I look at the final record. Last year we might have had a losing record for most of the year but we finished 20-18 (not that good but winning). When you look at it in days it is pretty disheartening though.

Patsos is not and will never be on Fran's level. He is too erratic running a program. It's constantly changing because of the the constant roster turnover. He runs a flex offense, a flex offense. So basically depending on creating mismatches to score in the half court. His teams have always fouled a lot. People believe that is going to change soon? Don't think so. We have an outgoing coach whose record screams mediocracy.

The point is I wish we had the old Arborwood forums to see how people were (or were not) ripping Fran for essentially the SAME start to his Siena career.

I don't sit on my hands, I try to do my part to make noise but you're right, a lot of our older fans don't get very loud. Critiquing the players on here is one thing , blow off some steam. Being loud and shouting negative comments at your own players or the coach at a game is not cool but rather embarrassing. This isn't the Knicks, these are our kids. College kids are not pros. We're all on here, I think, because we all love Siena basketball. Please try not to cross a line where you might do something at a game that would embarrass yourself or the program, out of frustration.

I don't think that's very important to many of us Siena fans right now clickclack. My compliments to the kids and Will Brown at UAlbany. They played tough and had a great game. Now that our game is over, I imagine most reasonable fans on this forum will be following your boys and will be hoping they win the AE this year. They certainly earned the win the other night.

Injuries are a factor! And Jimmy can only do sooo much! In the Albany Game-Long, OJ, Oliver, Poole and Hymes!? These guys have the experience! And for some reason..nobody was able to take charge ! Nobody was able to score more points! Hopefully, someone get sick of seeing this crap and steps up!

Patsos is not and will never be on Fran's level...We have an outgoing coach whose record screams mediocracy. Am I the only one who remembers the complaints about ".500 Fran" into his 2nd season? Will this team get it together like that young team did? Only time will tell. But you can't compare Patsos today with Fran's full body of work.

You can call last year a winning season, but Siena spend a couple hundred thousand dollars on the CBI to get above .500. And everyone would be okay with that if the extra experience and big games were a springboard to a great year this year, like they were sold as. Now they seem like a huge waste of money.
