You and I do this every year... Lol You fire a shot across my bow... I try to smack you around, you kick my ass. Merry Christmas Tony... Merry Christmas Clack!! I edited my earlier post buddy... You guys are a good bunch over the years I've gotten to know many of you in pm etc. You guys are good in my book... Even junkie. It's that greedy bastard... Your AD... I honestly feel most of you would be calling for similar changes if the shoe was on the other foot.

This game will be a neutral game and not part of your season ticket package or it will be put on pause. The current terms are not acceptable. We'll be fine and you can bring in UCLA to sell 12k+ seats. We'll go in the road to Duke for $90k. I'd be fine with it alternating season ticket holders but I also wouldn't mind if the series got cancelled.

In the meantime... You can go find someone else to bring in 12k fans... Deal? We'll see you in 3 years asking for the game to return but this time on even terms. 15 years or whatever is a good run... Let it breath a few years. I'm not looking for another team to bring in 12k in fans but I am interested in scheduling a team from a better conference. Heck, I'd prefer to be more like Syracuse and never leave home for a game in Nov or Dec (unless it's a tournament) and pay teams guarantees to get them to come. Of course that's not going to happen (at least for a few more years).

That's what scares you, with every UA win you lose clout in this argument and negotiation. Knowing you over the years, you wouldn't for a second allow for this to continue if the shoe was on the other foot. You also downlplay what you make in the game. Recently naming rights to the Albany cup were sold... How much of that revenue did UA get? And you think that's fair? Cancel it... UA alumni and fans will understand, just explain all these things and Siena will look the greedy bastard that they are. While it doesn't scare me, you are correct in that if the shoe was on the other foot, I definitely wouldn't stand for it. I'd complain to Siena's AD/Admin/anyone who'd listen that we shouldn't play the game. I don't know why more UAlbany fans don't get on the ADs case to cancel this unfair contract. You don't see Siena continuing the 3-1 or 4-1 Suracuse games. Yes we may end up getting another one in the near future but Siena usually doesn't put up with "unfair" contracts. So ask yourself this; "Why does UA"? There must be something (maybe money, maybe press, something) that keeps them resigning a new contract. You should be upset with them & not Siena or Siena fans.

Glad to see some reasonableness here. IMO game has reached its termination. Ticket sales an excuse, when was the last time there was a sell out, so obviously everyone could purchase tickets.
My question is what is going on behind the scenes. Is it the admin or AD. This scheduling started back prior to the new AD hire. also not sure we should blame Brown, he most likely is falling on his sword and doing what hi is told. Could Siena make some concessions, yes but would they be enough.

I know people have seen my posts on this matter, I blame UA admins more then anything on this topic. McElroy was a pushover... Jury out on Benson. I have said many times... Siena owes us NOTHING. I wouldn't want to ceede and inch to UA either... Now that we have a few wins and counting. I'm not upset one bit with Siena fans.

Game has averaged 12000 a game for the last 8 years. SEFCU holds 4500. Both teams live, work, breathe in Albany, NY. There's a venue IN DOWNTOWN ALBANY that holds 14000 fans we BOTH have the opportunity to use. One of us does out of necessity, and the other doesn't because, well, they simply don't draw well.
This is a business and these decisions (whether to play or not) are made by people with way more clout at UA than anyone out here. They wouldn't play the game unless it benefitted the program. Like CC said, they can go play Duke and get their check. Go ahead, I don't blame them. They've done well lately during the Mitch fiasco, and now are getting cocky. Understood.
I say cut off the series. Maybe re-visit the terms in 10 years. Maybe by then UA will be a great program, and play their home games at the TUC because they can't fit all their fans in the SEFCU. So by 2025, BOTH teams will call the TUC their homecourt, and we can play the game again, on BOTH OF OUR homecourt.

Personally I think the game has run its course- UA already gets 4K in tickets, makes more money off this game than any local game they play. They get more publicity than any local game they play- if that isn't enough let them go back into obscurity playing at sefcu in front of 1200 fans. Tired of UA bitching, Brown playing games with the game date etc just let the game go on hiatus. Was good to hear Darg say the game wouldn't be played at Sefcu www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Contract-up-for-Siena-UAlbany-5949405.phpSiena is the only team that plays in an arena (as opposed to a gym) where the opposing team has the "opportunity" to purchase more tickets than the home team (if they so chose to). All other arena teams, that I'maware of would only hold 200-500 seats available for opposing teams, probably closer to 200 for teams that sell out every games. I've been for cancelling this in order to schedule a team from a better conference (even if it's only a crappy a-10, CAA, MAC etc. Team). Fran HATED having to play this game. Nothing to gain- if we win, we were supposed to. If we lose,God forbid. Hurt RPI even if we won.

So you understand why Siena fans would not want to give up our home court? I am very adamant about that, but am warming more and more to a home & home. I realize a lot of people would be shut out, but as long as everybody was given equal opportunity (meaning tickets), I could still see it as being a good event across the region.

UAlbany fans don't come out. Siena will pick up the slack. We'll get 10K.
