Keys to game, Siena took care of ball. We shared the ball, 5 guys in double figures and played hard. Sophomores played great, Quis at Point, Lavon was a beast down low, and JO is getting more confident every game, his ability to hit a few 15 to 18 foot jumpers forced 7 footer Ndoye to come out and guard him, opening the inside up for some drives. Hopefully we wont see any more extended man to Man defense out of the Saints. Not sure whats going on with Bisping, he hasn't been himself, the 10 day layoff should help him, have to believe he is having lingering effects of mono relapse www.sienasaints.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/111914aaa.htmlwww.troyrecord.com/sports/20141119/siena-beats-st-bonaventure-to-retain-franciscan-cup4guysinblazers.com/saints-beat-st-bonaventure-to-retain-franciscan-cup/11624www.buffalonews.com/sports/bona-mens-basketball/siena-repels-bona-takes-franciscan-cup-20141119www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Wright-focuses-Saints-on-the-road-5905435.phpwww.youtube.com/watch?v=cWn-NOzJTIU#t=11

" “It’s hats off – we played a really tough, challenging schedule at our level and came out 1-2 and I couldn’t be prouder,” - Patsos

" “It’s hats off – we played a really tough, challenging schedule at our level and came out 1-2 and I couldn’t be prouder,” - Patsos What? I get that he wants to be positive after a turnaround win. The momentum's heading in the right direction. I just don't like this "our level" stuff. Sure, we're not Kentucky or even Maryland. But we spend more money than St. Bonaventure. We put more fans in our arena than UMass does in theirs. That's our level.

Patsos is a bit passive agressive at times. This "it's my fault crap" is getting old. We all know you are the anti-pw, just give it a rest.
He wants to lower expectations for good reason. He should know by now that's really not possible in Loudonville. We want more, we want a winning program, we want to go to a higher level where beating an average Bonnie's team isn't a big win.

Why do you all buy into coach speak. They are never going to downplay a road win no matter who it is against. Coaches never shit talk their opponents.

The "it's my fault" is a reaction to getting hammered early on when he was honest and said the kids didn't follow instructions and messed up the plays/outcome of the game. He was crucified for blaming the players and not taking responsibility. Fans can't have it both ways, so now the default is "it is my fault", which ultimately it is, but sometimes the kids just make dumb plays and Patsos was just honest enough to say it and got hammered. Bottomline, get used to "it's my fault" because it is going to be said again and again, even though he doesn't believe it and it usually isn't true.

I think the "at our level" references reality. Siena is in the one bid MAAC and is rebuilding with a still young team and have played two A-10 teams on the road and good VT team out of the AE. So through three games the competition has been "challenging". Certainly Siena aspires to be the Crown Jewel of the MAAC and "better than the rest", but that is not the reality today. That and "coach speak" will get you "at our level". I get it.

Nobody should be surprised that has been saying these things -- he's been saying them long before Siena hired him.

The fact that people still have hope of Siena moving up to a bigger conference is mind blowing. Lets just work with where we are and become dominate. Look at Gonzaga who has won their conference over and over and over.... Why arent they moving to a bigger conference from where they currently are? Because it just isn't as easy as 1,2,3. Once we become dominate and dont lose our coach every time we become dominate then there could be a consideration.
Until then lets worry about now and enjoy it for what we have, because we all know it can be gone in the blink of an eye.

People will take this as you defending the MAAC as a conference. Ive tried to say this before, and its not so much about the conference, it is about the opportunity at being the best team in the league brings. I think most people want to go to a multi bid league, but that doesnt guarantee success.

I am consummate college basketball fan who has been a season ticket holder at Siena for 20 + years, but I've said for years that at the end of the day, Siena College should worry more about raising the academic profile that jumping to a higher conference. Call me crazy, but if you only have one masters degree in a major that is unlikely for your basketball players you leave yourself very little wiggle room for 5th year redshirts or those 'older' transfers that you may need to plug holes in your roster in a higher conference.

I didn't read any part of this thread as yet another conference realignment thread. The point is that Gonzaga defined their own level, they didn't let their conference define it for them. Siena defines its own level too. We can still come out of our conference strong.

Their league has also made moves to move itself up like adding BYU. And there is no natural league for Gonzaga to go to with the P12 and MWC both being football conferences. You can bet if Gonzaga was in the Big West or the WAC that they would have long ago moved up to the WCC.
