I really enjoy going to the TUC and supporting our Saints ( almost always - this past Monday may have been an exception!). Anyway, maybe it was because of the bad display of hoops on the floor Monday, but during the final 3:00 of a game, during crunch time, when I want to concentrate on the game and discuss strategy with friends, etc. .....When the drama is building, and the game intensity is there, does it bother anyone else that they are still running around throwing t-shirts into the crowd and urging the crowd to yell to beg for a t-shirt? It is just plain BAD TIMING. I would hope people come to the game for the basketball, not for the side show, the silly Donut contests and the t-shirts.
I don't come to the TUC to get a t-shirt, especially when the game is on the line. The band playing during a timeout is great, adds to the mood, but those t-shirt hawkers are over the top. The focus should be on a college basketball game, not trying to create a carnival atmosphere! Was it just Monday's game experience or does that bother anyone else?

I agree. The other night I saw a Vermont basketball player have to tell the young boy that was helping with the t shirts to get off the court. They wait too long to be out there. The game is starting and they are throwing shirts.

I find it especially embarrassing when you see grown men competing with kids for one of those stupid shirts.

I mean I agree. Has to do with the home atmosphere. We say that the TUC is a home court advantage, but dont act like it. A big part of college basketball home atmosphere is having students who are into the game. Need some more creativity besides the S-I-E-N-A chant and the defense chant. Once the student section decides to yell and cheer every game, that is when the atmosphere will change and they wont need tshirts to create noise and make it a true home field advantage.

Without the sponsors $. They wouldn't be playing at the TUC. Unfortunately we have to sit through it.

When I saw the subject of your post I thought it was going to be about the coach. I agree either way. I did too! The promo team looks unorganized this year with regards to timing. It was awkward to watch.

It was awkward to watch. Ditto...but I agree that the promo team needs more training and the 'dog pound' also lacks leadership and innovation. Maybe its a generational thing - I'm too old that they are too young!

Thanks for the feedback. I got home Monday, discouraged, and then it was like... I wanted to focus on the game, not the other stuff. (Maybe it would have been good NOT to focus on Monday's game.) Anyway, tonight's a new night and Go Saints!

Agree student cheering section needs to instill senior leadership that is passed down from year to year to make some noise.

Get rid of the courtside tables and let the students be on both ends of the floor again..

Plus the money thing...

The kids should be on the visiting teams bench, not ours. Make it as unpleasant as possible for the opposing team. the UMass kids were brutal on Jimmy and our team. They know where to put them!!

Most schools do this, including Quinnipiac in their new facility. We've got the student section on the wrong side. I'd also like to see the Dog Pound stay a little quieter on offense and get loud on defense. The "tees for threes" are fun, but I don't understand the extra T-shirts with the game on the line.
