Top of MAAC is very close, not much difference in top 3 or 4 teams going into season – a quick look at contenders
Iona- may have some depth problems, English Laury and Williams are a terrific trio, after that gets a bit sketchy As I told Iona fans the transfer Dublin is 6’4” and will struggle at PF in MAAC , Amayo has lost his explosiveness and can’t shoot. On paper might be Cluess weakest team since he's been in New Rochelle. Still Cluess teams always score – so expect gals to be in hunt
Quinny – Bobcats look good with Drame and Hearst, Chandler looked good last year as a freshmen , if JuCo transfer Giovanni McLean is the real deal Quinny will be in the hunt
Siena- Saints are solid and deep, question is will Jimmy open up the offense? If Saints can score in 73 to 76ppg range will probably win the MAAC- another year of 69ppg, look for 2nd or 3rd place regular season finish
ST Peters- I was actually very high on peacocks, but they don’t have a lot of depth, if sophomore forward Quadir Weldon is out any length of time, Peacocks drop down a notch below top 3 teams
Manhattan – have some talent returning, but not an experienced group. Jaspers have a great front court; backcourt has some serious question marks, as well as big time question on outside shooting other than Shane Richards. We all know back court play is what wins in the MAAC – I have the jasper’s a notch below top 4, but they have potential to move up if they get some good guard play
Monmouth has some new players and some potential to be this year’s surprise team- Rider - Marist - FF- Niagara and Canisius will all try to rebuild and jockey to stay out of basement and build for future
