Maurice was a beast today - very controlled and looking to score. Had a couple of defensive lapses but overall looked much more confident and improved. I spoke with him after and asked if had grown a bit - he seemed noticeably taller, especially noticed when he was near Ryan. Maurice confirmed it and said he has grown about two inches! Freshmen weren't there due to an academic field trip to NYC which Jimmy found both amusing and worthwhile yet poorly scheduled - he said he wasn't notified until this past Wednesday! I'm so happy to hear from many that White looks good. I think the kid is going to be real special. JPs done a good job so far with recruiting talent, it's amazing where this team is positioned now. JP makes it look easy and I know it's not.

Agree that Maurice looked great. Spoke very briefly with him after practice and complimented his work. Also then spasmodically said "thanks, uhh...for being on the team!" as if I were a stalking jock sniffer. In front of my kids. Humiliating, but makes me laugh anyway. I'm sure he meant it as being "with the team" because Jimmy really makes those kids appreciate the following that their program gets. More than any other MAAC program for sure.

More than 10 times any MAAC program... Siena fans are the best in the MAAC and one of the best mid-major fan bases in the country. Take a bow Siena nation! I hope we can average 7000 this year with the potential to play three MAAC tournament games at the TUC. Albany loves a winner so we need to get off to a strong start which we should with this schedule. Of course saying that we could start 1-2 (@ UMass, Vermont, @ St. Bonaventure) to begin the season. If we can beat Vermont and steal one of the two road games we have a chance for a really good start. One step at a time though, I know!

No guys - I was the one who said thanks to him. Like an overexcited schoolgirl. It was really embarrassing.

Yeah, that was a good one. If he's not an actor he's certainly a character. It seems like thee guys know how to take him.

His banter with Poole over shooting and missing so many threes was good too

They've got to mike-up Jimmy on a broadcast during a game or go all- access during a practice like they do in NFL films. Of course most of it would be beeped out! It seems all in good nature which is why his players love playing hard for him. Play hard and play smart. Like most good coaches Jimmy takes the pressure off his players and puts it on him.

Mike, I don't think his early comments to Poole were good nature. For some reason Jimmy was really down on him after Rob, in Jimmy's opinion, walked through the first set play. Not being "ready to play today" is one thing, as was "that's what I get from my senior captain" but the mysterious "Did your lacrosse friends tell you to do that" after some miscue seemed a little too personal for my taste.

Jimmy says it all tongue in cheek-- and the players know that, you have to see several practices to see his interaction with players-- Poole was loafing on that play and Jimmy wont stand for that
