YEah, but when they recruit over him he can come back Well this is step one of Tony's desire to recruit against higher level teams, now all we have to do is sign one of this type players. Baby steps.

Think we could have locked him up in April when I first mentioned him. He had no offers, then Canisius came in and he got his 1st D-1 offer. We offer then too, and I think we get him.

You might be right on that but had we signed Holt in April with only one offer from a low-major like Canisius people would be questioning Jimmy why he signed Holt with the lack of competition and offers he currently held (see Wormley). I'm not saying that is right or wrong but I do think it is accurate. I checked out an Indiana site and some of their fans were not happy about Tom Cream potentially signing Holt. Of course fan bases want their teams to sign the best possible players. Until proven otherwise though I will defer to the coaching staff on who Siena recruits and ultimately signs.

Don't be silly Bill- You shouldn't expect Siena to recruit vs Indiana or any other BCS program. That kind of thinking is "over the top" Holt already had a ton of interest from good mid majors-- so he already was step 1 as you put it..

Hopefully you're happy now Tony. They're now officially recruiting against the big boys.

Typical BM trying to reframe someone's argument. Although T certainly can speak for himself it seems crystal clear to just about everyone that the point isn't to have impossible recruiting battles. The point is to go after high value targets that have interest from other top MM or the lower level HM programs. Siena isn't going to beat Indiana, Duke, Florida, etc for recruits but it can beat St Joe's, Northern Iowa, Rutgers, Auburn, etc.

Wow talk about reading something that isn't there. I said step one is to go after kids that higher level teams are also recruiting. I never said that if a BCS team is involved we will/should sign him. I said "now we have to sign one of this type of player", (i.e., a player being recruited by a higher level team). I never said we have to sign this kid or any another kid offered by a BCS team. I'm sorry my statement was misinterpreted. That interpretation was not what was intended.

How is Siena going to get Holt as a 2014 commitment? There are and have been, since Willem's commitment, no more 2014 scholarships, unless someone has decided to leave even though the first day of classes is fewer than three weeks away. That hardly seems possible.

You're correct KS. I don't know what I was thinking. I somehow confused the 2014 season as next yr (as opposed to this season) even though I knew Holt was a 2015 recruit (for next season). Must have confused 2015 as two seasons from now. Don't know how I did that but that's my only explanation.

Kasongo not visiting Indiana as he was not admitted to the school.
Visit is still on for Holt.

Alex Kline @therecruitscoop 6m Indiana has landed a commitment from 2014 PF Emmitt Holt - who opted to not take a postgrad year at Vermont Academy (VT).
