You misunderstood me Tony. My goal is an undefeated season and that is as high as you can go. I dont just want to get to the the NCAAs I want to advance. Sure that is easier said than done and true RPI matters...I am just saying the way to the tourney is to win the tourney by any means necessary...since the MAAC determines their NCAA representative be the tournament champion that is my main goal. Everything else is just fluff.

Everything else is just fluff. If we want to have a chance to win in the NCAAs we need to win as many games as possible in the regular season. Finishing 3rd or 4th won't get you a very good seed even if you win the tournament. Winning the MAAC tournament gets you into the NCAA tournament but winning and dominating the MAAC (and OOC) is what gives you the chance to advance in the NCAA tournament. I totally would disagree that the rest just fluff. College basketball is more than three days in March. In 2002 Siena finished 7th won the MAAC tournament and got send to the NCAA PIG in Dayton. Sure those four days in March were fun but the season wasn't and we had basically no chance to win a round of 64 game (though we did beat Alcorn State in the PIG that year). Now sure I'd rather finish 2nd in the regular season and win the tournament vs finishing 1st and losing in the tournament. But let's shoot for both! But first is the OOC and UMass is the toughest test up first on November 14th. Just win, baby...a lot of games!

Again I dont believe any game is impossible to win. We have to win the games in front of us and getting in the NCAA tournament is the ultimate goal. We do that by winning the conference tournament. Everything leading up to that point is def a big part of it as it determines the order and the seed...I still want the NCAAs at the end of the day more than anything else

that comment about Siena "peaking" ? What a shmuck! My money's on we're going to average over 70 a game. Forget about how many times we're going to reach it. 72 per sounds about right for the season !!

Winning every game should be this team's number one goal. Winning the MAAC Regular Season should be a very close second and would put us in the best possible position for the MAAC Tournament which returns to its rightful home at the TUC. Winning will put more late comers in the cheap seats as the season progresses - and, if memory serves me, there will be more seats to fill this year. Winning through the MAAC semi's with a packed house would go a long way toward winning us a first round NIT home game should be lose in the Championship game. Winning the MAAC Tournament will greatly enhance our chances for a first round matchup that is winnable. Easy to see that WINNING is the key.

I'm thinking either Masiello or Jim Baron said it (Jimmy and Baron don't like each other you can just sense it). Of course wouldn't shock me if Cluess said it either knowing Siena is loaded for bear and Iona has not yet brought in their usual mercenaries. It's really a ridiculous comment. I mean if you want to say Siena needs more offense has to shoot better from three or doesn't do this one thing particularly well etc that's fine. But peaked when two of the best players (Wright and Long) are entering their sophomore seasons? It sounds like some sour grapes to me. And if you feel that way fine but put your name on it! I'd put it on the bulletin board if I were Jimmy. He is a master motivator and will use it to Siena's advantage.

I don’t think it’s any secret that the Saints have to score more this year and shoot a better pct—if they do Siena will be tough to beat – if they score only around 70ppg—then we will still be tough…but probably finish top 3 or 4. Remember this is new territory for Jimmy, one of the reasons why he never won a regular season MAAC title is his teams never could score..if Jimmy micro manages the offense like he did for most of last year – I don’t look for much improvement in the offense. And I should add with all the freshmen and playing a new system it was understandable why he did that. If he lets the team play like we did the last game vs Fresno the MAAC is in big trouble I think the biggest question mark for next year’s team is Jimmy himself- his teams have never averaged over 70—can he take advantage of our depth and let the offense flow… or will he slow the team down and get into a bunch of half court slug outs—which Siena will still win their share.. the biggest question mark is can Jimmy take the next step as head coach Still a very young team. I see the same offensive output as last year historically it's JPs style of play. I don't see us scoring in the 70s as a rule. I'm looking at 13 - 15 MAAC wins regular season. We lost a few close ones last year. If we figure that out we'll be on the higher side of that range.

Jimmy have to let the kids go and let them play. I believe we can score 70 points a game.

Improved shooting percentages will increase scoring. Both from the line and from the field. We will also make more 3's as a team but our bread and butter will continue to be a strong defensive team that rebounds by committee.

And how about us just making two of the bunnies we missed every game to go over the top. These kids are going to be much stronger this year, finish better, and they are going to be so much more battle ready. They have been thru the wars. The schedule is easier and they are going to be focused from day one. More experienced, more versatile roster, fewer weaknesses, deeper bench with veteran players. This team is going to average 70 a game.

We will run when its available. ..control the boards control the game... fastbreaks come from steals or defensive rebounds and quick outlets. That is a big part of our offense. We get stops we get to run..

Getting back to these rankings: www.nycbuckets.com/2014/07/way-early-maac-power-rankings-awards/How does Ryan Restivo figure Manhattan to be #3 ahead of Quinnipiac? Manhattan graduates their three top player by far (Beamon, Alvarado and Brown). Without Brown, how do they sustain their supposed defensive dominance? Quinnipiac returns Hearst and Drame both possible first-team All-MAAC caliber seniors.

They will now just be ok defending inside instead of elite. Quinny ignores perimeter D altogether as a part of their strategy in favor of defensive rebounding. Manhattan won't be "dominant" defensively. They should be decent though...maybe top 75-150 range. Watch out for Monmouth, they could have a top 100 defense too.

Also, PPC said "top 5 finish" meaning "1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th in the regular season" to secure a bye. Obviously, Option A (undefeated season with MAAC championship) is the ultimate goal. But, is there anyone on this message board who would pick Option C (1st place regular season and loss in the MAAC tournament) over option Option B (3rd place regular season, MAAC championship and NCAA tourney)? A 3rd place finish may be the result of games where Jimmy sits Cole for jacking up bad 3's, sits Long for stupid fouls, or sits Wright for lazy passes. And while some of his most developed players are pondering their mistakes on the bench, Jimmy gives real minutes to players like Paige and WB to help them develop so the program doesn't regress when Long and Wright graduate. This season, the difference between 1st and 3rd might come down to only a few tough losses that turn out to be pivotal teaching moments that will lead to many more important wins in the long term. Option B is a sign of a coach developing a great program. Option A is a pipe dream. PCC, you really need to "like" this post because I mention player development 4 times
