Edwin reminds me of what Jimmy's team is missing compared to McCaffery's best squad. Wright, Long and Bisping are on trajectories to be as good as Moore, Franklin and Rossiter. And Cole appears to have the talent and athleticism of Hasbrouck. But, Jimmy's squad does not have the Ubiles component. While Edwin would disappear for long stretches, the double teams he commanded opened up opportunities for everyone. A big reason Franklin put up player of the year numbers is because opposing teams often had their best lengthy defender on Edwin.

This team has its own identity. Each player will make his own name.

Agree with PPC. While it is nice and fun to try and compare current players to players of the past it is, in my opinion, over done at times. Players may be similar in size and playing style but their skill sets and more importantly their roles for their teams may be completely different.

I agree & like to add that I think this team could be the deepest team ever at Siena. Maybe not as many superstars but as a team I can't think of a deeper team. We're complaining about players playing time because there's not enough to go around. Isn't that a problem other teams would dream to have?

Like the rest of the teams in D1 we have 13 guys and only 5 can play at one time. Let's all keep in mind though that the team still hasn't cracked the top 100. Everything is up for grabs---- as PPC says it will be settled in practice.

The sum is greater than the parts with this team. I don't believe we have the individual talent that Fran team's had but we might have a better top 10 or 11 players. We are going to simply were down teams with our depth and pressing them. Though we won't play as fast as the Hewitt team's did I can see the minutes divided up similarly and our guys being fresh and pulling away from people after the under 4 timeout of the second half. It doesn't appear we'll have a huge drop off from the starters to the bench. Jimmy has a good winning system they will just grind out wins.
It all starts with Wright and Long. Wright is the quarterback of the team just like Moore was. Long is the do everything intangible player. Poole and Bisping are two upperclassmen who have been through the battles. But I am confident in players 5 through 10 whoever they end up being ... we have plenty of intriguing options there.

MTS..have a couple issues on your post. To say that Poole and Bisping are just two upperclassmen who have been through the battles, in my opinion, is an insult to the seasons they just had. They both are the top 2 returning point scorers and rebounders as well as the best 2 shooters on the team. I understand Wright (especially since he is only legit PG) and Long are important pieces but it does not start with them. Wright and Long have to make significant improvements in their shooting, and I am not only talking 3pt shooting, to get to the next level as players. Also to say their is not a big drop off after Wright, Long, Bisping and Poole I just do not agree with. We all saw the drop off during games when those players were not on the court as they all averaged over 27 minutes a game. I happen to like what Oliver brings to the table but players like White, JO and Wolfe need to play a lot better and make a big sophomore jump to supply quality depth when the top 4 are on the bench. Of course WB, Paige and Cole are the unknown, while Silas and Hymes are what they are.

Both are very good players who will be important parts to winning a MAAC championship in 2014-2015. Both are capable of being all-MAAC players. But we know what we're going to get from Poole and Bisping. They'll improve a little bit most likely but they are close to finished products. Poole actually should be helped with improvements and experience from Wright/Long/Cole because he won't have to be the #1 target of opposing teams defenses. If Wright and Long make the sophomore jump and Cole is even just a good player then Siena will win the MAAC next year. Those four (Wright, Long, Poole, Bisping) are easily Siena's best players but I feel comfortable seeing the bench get some time to rest the "big 4" for the stretch drives of games. Fran's big 4 was so good he just had to keep them on the floor for as long as possible. I think Jimmy has a little more flexibility with more interchangeable parts. Also I would argue Cole is not "unknown" at the D1 level. He averaged double digits in scoring as a freshmen lite up some pretty big programs. Now we get to see his sophomore jump (third year sophomore). I also expect White and JO to be very good in their second season. Wolfe has serious potential too.

Hey, what about OD??? He plays for the Celtics today at 11 am NBCTV. He led his league in rebounding in Italy and the Celtics coach was coach at Butler and played vs OD twice. He may not make the Celts but this is a real plus for him

ok, OD did not get in the game, but there were 7 current Celts on the team. Eddie has only 3 teammates who are on the grizzlie roster, hope he gets some playing time,
