Thoughts on seeing 40 minutes or so of practice today, in no particular order. The necessary disclaimer is that the observations are based on a very small sample.
1. Everyone practiced except Oliver (ice taped to his knee).
2. Brandwijk is the only freshman on campus so far.
3. Wolfe definitely looks bigger.
4. Wright looks like he has spent quite a bit of time working on his shot.
5. I will not be surprised if Brandwijk makes a significant contribution. He appears to have a nice combination of strength, shooting ability, hops and defensive intensity.

I could see WB playing some 3 to stretch defenses

I could see WB playing some 3 to stretch defenses He will do that from the 4 and 5 spot like Bisping did ladt season. He has a nice touch but he is not a ball handler

Good report- Wright is probably already the best returning pure Point in the MAAC- if he adds a dependable outside jumper he will be one of the better players in MAAC next season. Great news on WB also.. Can’t wait to see Paige..when is he scheduled to arrive? Next week?

Second summer session begins next week. Everyone should be here for that. And if WB is not 6'9 then Bisping is not 6'8 and Wolfe looks taller than everyone at 6'10

FYI Wright got a 2 handed dunk in the scrimmage at the end of practice. And hit a 3 #playerDevelopment

Is Gottfried expected for the summer or does anything about his "walk-on" status limit him?

Great news on WB also.. Can’t wait to see Paige..when is he scheduled to arrive? Next week? Wright is special player he"s always been good with high IQ. Jimmy was smart to get him early at Loyola. Good pgs are hard to find these days. I think he has chance be mid major all American at Siena. Kid Savy, tough, winner.

Intelligence, toughness, calming demeanor and clutch. If he has even a decent outside shot he will be one of the best players in the MAAC. It might sacrilegious to say but he could be in Ronald Moore's class before he graduates at Siena. I expect both Wright and Long to be all-MAAC the next three seasons. Long and Wright and the rest of the class of 2017 are going to finish with a lot of wins at Siena over their careers...already have 20 (with a CBI championship) before they start their sophomore season.

I believe incoming freshmen walk-ons cannot take part in scheduled conditioning/practices until classes start as they are not yet Siena students. The other walk-ons are Siena students and would be paying for the summer session, etc.. It may be too late for him to enroll in a summer session and if he did, he'd be paying tuition, etc. for it as well as room/board over and above what he'd be paying for the upcoming school year.

Great news on WB also.. Can’t wait to see Paige..when is he scheduled to arrive? Next week? I don't think Wright is ever gonna attempt a lot of threes but he has to keep teams honest for sure. At least, fool teams into guarding him out there so he can blow by. Unless Wolfe makes the leap, I really have a hard time thinking both Paige and WB won't be in the rotation. We're gonna play 10 guys and they both have a lot of inherent height, athleticism, and ball skill advantages over their respective competition for playing time. Every Silas and JO missed FT is like a dagger to the heart when you have guys like Wolfe and WB sitting next to them on the bench. And Paige is in a similar situation. He's a big athletic guard who can also shoot. I like Hymes but if Oliver, Poole and Cole make his playing PG superfluous then his lack of D and rebounding won't sniff him the court. And similar with White if he's turning the ball over and not shooting well. When you have a bigger guy who is just as athletic who can also shoot, defend and rebound...who are you going to put in there? It's just a numbers game. And it's not like these guys don't have the muscle for D1 ball or haven't played against good competition in HS either. I'm very eager to see how this all shakes out.

Yeah Wright having a respectable jumper accomplishes a lot- last year opposing teams would not come out and guard him, and it would clog up the lane and it was “easy” to play zone vs Saints – So Marquis doesn’t have to shoot a lot—all he has to be is a legitimate threat—and of course consistently knock them down if teams refuse to come out and play him—will open things up for his teammates tremendously
As for playing time- I hope Jimmy plays 9 or 10 guys to take advantage of our depth. Not only should we have one of the better ( if not the best starting 5 in MAAC ) not sure any other team in MAAC is as “deep” a team as Siena will be next year
