National TV is completely different than being on Time Warner. This is a great thing...if some stay home fine that's an OK trade-off to being on CBS Sports network. Scott Graham is doing PBP (Does a lot with the NFL and college basketball) and of course Siena's own John Griffin with the color commentary. Big 10 opponent, CBS Sports network banner should be a big time feel to the arena CBI or not - hope we do get a decent crowd to come out and will the Saints on to victory!
CBSSN does a lot of A10 and Mountain West games and also does Patriot league games. Why the MAAC would rather be on the computer (ESPN3) over CBSSN or NBCSN is a mystery to me. If the Patriot league can get those games on why not the MAAC?

Plus with time warner the season ticket holders have already paid so siena is getting the money whether they watch tv or not. Not so with the cbs game.

National TV is completely different than being on Time Warner. Why is that? Everyone within an hour of the TUC gets both stations, so it really doens't matter if Griffin, or Heurter, is doing the color. IF it wasn't on TV, the turnout would be better, believe it. Every one of us knows a few people that won't go because, "I can stay home and watch it on TV."

I don't know that anyone ever argued that televising games did not result in some fans who would attend deciding to stay at home and watch on TV. So what. The long view is that if televising the games results in thousands of people watching that would not have otherwise watched, some of those fans will be more likely to attend future games thus increasing future attendance.
In theory, the decision to televise games is an investment in the future. The Saints have to hold up their part of the bargain by putting an entertaining product on the floor.

Granted it is the CBI but people looking for a basketball fix at 7pm have either Siena/Penn State on CBSSN or Georgetown-FSU on ESPN. The only two games national TV tonight. Maybe it's a reach but could help in recruiting and promoting the program for the future (which Jimmy has done very well as he was advertised to do). Anytime you're on nationally against a Big 1G team it is a good thing even if it cost a couple hundred people in the building (let's face it not much more than that).

I wouldn't oversell this, MTS. We won't know the ratings for tonight because Nielsen doesn't track CBSSN since its distribution is too low. It's good that Siena can play with the big boys, but that's the extent of it. Now we need wins.

I think we can win tonight but if we don't the season already has been a success. We doubled our win total from a season ago and have set a strong foundation for the future. The pressure is all on PSU tonight they are the Big 10 program who beat Ohio State twice and we are finishing off a rebuilding year. House money game tonight. Go Saints!!

Empty you make this out like its Monday night football. Both teams combined for 4600 in attendance. I have channels I don't know I have and never watch and so does everyone else across the country. The point is I can't see this having any national interest. Hell Siena's attendance dropped. 70% from their last game of the season to their game vs SB.

There is national interest. There are Siena fans all over the country not to mention b ball fans that will watch tournament games on the sports channel.

Capper.. doesn't look like that is going to happen. PPC, as far as I could determine you are probably overating. No one in my epic journey to four sports bars in the northern NYC 'burbs to find the game had any interest in Siena/PSU (because you see, CBS Sports Network is a premium channel here) they were all watching Georgetown on ESPN. It is not as "national" as some might make it out to be. None the less, terrific win, kudos to KK for "suggestions" (how many push-ups did Lavon do?) his FT's were the difference as was his overall play in the second half. Great team win, hope Marquis is okay for Wednesday.
