If this team belongs in the finals, it'll get there no matter what the path. I'll never subscribe to the a lower seed is better theory. Do your best in the regular season and take on all comers in the postseason. I say having Siena in your bracket is the hard path to the finals. Go Saints! AMEN - Preach on Brother Sienafan!

You may not subscribe to it but lower seeds sometimes do get better match ups. Happens all the time in the Big Dance brackets! Of course that's true but in big dance everyone is playing same number of games-- you are discounting fact the PiG teams play an extra game - there is an advantage in being in quarterfinals- this years Siena team is not good enough to just say we would win the PiG ( please see losses to St Peter, Marist and Monmouth all PiG teams) -- no thanks I'll take the higher seed and guarantee of playing in quarterfinals

Right now Siena is very hot. I think that makes them extremely dangerous for any team!

Ok but it is an option that is not there given the team's top 5 finish and since no one would forfeit that status to take the easier route I guess my point is that that option is moot. Just an observation of the brackets as they played out on my part. The 6 has a slightly easier path v. 5. I was thinking the same thing but the 6 has to win the opening round game while Siena does not.

Has a 6 seed ever won the MAAC tourney? Last season, a 6-seed Manhattan lost the championship game to 4-seed Iona. The 2002 Saints were a 7-seed when they won it.

I don't believe a #6 seed has ever one (for the Men). In addition to the above, the 1986 Holy Cross (as a #6 seed) made it to the championship game but lost to Fairfield. Twice the #7 seed has won (Siena - 4 games and Fairfield - 3 games), as far as I know Siena is still the only MAAC Men's team to win 4 in a row to take the tournament. But, like I said before the #5 seed has won twice (Canisius 1996 and the first team to do it was Loyola in 1994). That's why I believe it's an omen that we'll win (20th anniversary from first time and Jimmy's link to Loyola (the team that won it first as the #5 seed)). Hopefully the planets are alligned for this weekend. Go Saint's!!!

img src="http://i.imgur.com/5MC2Iv6.jpg"] Love it! Hopefully we see a couple big posters in Springfield! Posters, banners, big heads, face paint, crazy haircuts, beards, etc. etc. The whole band is pumped for the weekend. We're preparing to stay until Monday. Feel free to say hi at the tournament, I'm the sax player with the beard who is always starting chants.

This is terrific news!!!! I am so grateful for the dedication of the band members. We need to rock this tourney out of Springfield and back to Albany where it puts fannies in the seats.
