Boy, it's never easy!! I think I'd rather have Canisius, although I think this team could win over either of them. We would need to hold down Baron and Perez. Our bigs have to be smarter than theirs and our guards have to go at them to get their bigs in foul trouble. Hoping that will shake them up. It will be tough to knock out the team with the most likely player of the year on it, but we could be a mini-MAAC Cinderella right to the Finals. disclaimer -- IndianSaint and I have NOT had a beer together yet this season so this is a totally sober assessment!

I pick Manhattan! It seemed that Siena played better against them in both games. Not to mention they have a lot more issues with regard to free throws!

Either game will be tough-- but I pick Canisius-- I think Jaspers are more talented( although I might change this pick if Alvardo is going to miss game) Griffs are so much Billy Baron-- and I could regret this since he can drop 40 on us ( oh yeah he already did) but a team with one player can always have an off day. Jaspers have several good to very good players- plus what are the odds they shoot free throws that bad again? No way we sneak up on Jaspers- while Griffs might be a tad complacent since they beat us twice. Either way going to be a very difficult game for a very young team

Tough one, but I think I go with Manhattan seems like we match up better . And I admit, I am afraid of Baron - he has too much going for him. (Although, my superstitious side always likes the chances against that 3 game sweep. ) However, we've shown we can play with either. And I'll say again - we need to have the right guys available at crunch time. Whoever we get, I am sure these guys will be up to the challenge. Up to Jimmy to keep them focused.

Maybe their off shooting night at the TUC was more than an anomaly. With that said, I don't know who I'd "prefer" to play. I guess I'd fall back on the old adage that it's very difficult to beat a team three times in one season, and that's what Canisius would have to do if we play them. They killed us in game one, game 2 was a triple OT thriller...maybe in game 3 Siena can finally get over the hump.

Q: Has Manhattan continued to struggle at the line since they played Siena?!

I saw on the Canisius board that some of the fans would prefer to avoid playing the Saints

I would go with Manhattan - playing the team with the MAAC Player of The Year is a recipe for another debacle on the personal foul line of the stat sheet for us. High probability (I am a conspiracy theory advocate) he gets protected in the early rounds and our statistical record in that category is a built in shield for the zebras, IMHO! Doubt Alvarado will miss a game over a week ago but you never know - even having him at 80% would be an advantage for us. In any event, we have to play whoever shows up for the 2:30 game.

Doesn't matter to me. We can beat either one but will be an underdog to either one. I just hope we aren't looking that far ahead as a team though. I really want this win over Monmouth regardless of that fact we are locked into our seed.

I'll take Canisius for 600 Alex. When the Griff's whipped Siena way back on Dec 8 it was a very different, much "younger" Saints team than the one that has been playing the past month. They had won their first MAAC game against the Perp's 2 nights before after being manhandled in FL the week before and maybe were a little unprepared mentally. Sure BillyBoy dropped 40 on the Saints in Albany, but he had to play 55 out of 55 minutes to do it. We got killed from the line in that one (Baron was 18 of 19 alone) and it still went 3 overtimes. Rahmel Brown is just a one man wrecking crew for MC and can probably foul out most if not our entire front court in a game. He scares me. That said, I think Siena can play toe to toe with any team on a given night on a neutral court, save for MAYBE Iona, the Gaels will take an extra special effort to take out in the semi's if the Saints get there. All in all, it has been fun to watch the Saints again and finishing in the top half has been a success by any measure (okay, I did say it was possible for them to win 20, so maybe not by that measure, but they are only a couple of free throws and a botched inbound away from that too). No matter how the year ends (hopefully 5 or 6 games from now) the fun is back!!

Rather play Canisius. The Alvarado injury is an x factor but Manhattan plays relentless pressing defense, goes 10 deep and are more athletic. Canisius does have the good guards of course led by Baron but I believe our frontcourt can man handle them the way they are playing. Their 6'10'' center prefers to shoot threes and Manhertz is good but the Saints can handle them. While only freshmen Long and Wright are going to have to play important roles and their numbers against Manhattan were not very good. Long was 6-18 and only had 14 pts and 7 rebs combined in the 2 games while Wright had 12 TO'S in 2 games. Just feel the matchup with Canisius is better, but obviously not an easy game

from the Jaspers message board on Alvarado "Low ankle sprain, day-to-day. We really dodged a bullet there." low ankle sprain and being young = he is playing if needed.

Canisius. Much harder for them to beat Siena 3 times in a season than it will be for Siena to beat Manhattan twice in a season. Siena isn't good enough to take out Manhattan twice.
