How does anyone put up 37 shots in a game? Did anyone else on his team take a shot? Yeah, with a game only 32 minutes long, 37 shots taken is crazy, and thats why it needs to be put in perspective what he's doing, and who he's doing it against. Before we go nuts on that...if you've ever seen a statistician at a high school game... they aren't always accurate...Sometimes not even close. Some take it very seriously...others, not so much

He has bad game= "he's double/triple teamed", now he shoots 37 times in 32 minutes= "statistician is wrong" This stuff does happen. 20+ years ago a kid up north, from a "D" school, shot like this for his coach/father. His name was Joe Girard for St Mary's of Glens Falls. HUGE scorer, good player. Went to Shen his senior year and ended up getting a few D-1 sniffs but ended up at LeMoyne. He was only 5'10" though. He had plenty of games with at least a shot a minute. I guess the question i have is, IF you're ever TRIPLE-TEAMED, how do you NOT find a teammate for an easy shot/lay-up???

That might be why he averages damn near a triple double. If he's scoring 38 like he did and then had 8 assists he accounted for a minimum of 54 of their points assuming no one hit any threes And if it's that easy to find teammates what was ODs issue

I have by no means written him off.. In fact I want to see him- but have to tell you given the level of competition and gunner mentality not impressed so far- I'm not even convinced he is a d1 player- I do agree he should be watched ... but I'm not anywhere near sold on him

He is definitely a D1 player...not sure what level he should go...mid major level he may need a year or two to become a major contributor. But shooters can usually find minutes right away and that he can do. Could see him as an oliver type role until he gets stronger and quicker. He is very fluid and under control with the ball which is why he is gettin looks. Its not like he is an athletic freak dominatin class C. He can get his shot off over defenders and has a nice release

I'm thoroughly convinced he's a D1 player. I'll reserve my opinion on whether he should be a Saint till I see how this next class shakes out.

Joel went for 38 in the class C quarterfinals win Is he a low D-1 player? Sure, because he supposedly can shoot the ball well. I haven't seen the kid play yet in person so I can't go much past that he's obviously a scholarship player I said both of these things today, but you always seem to harp on the negative (competition, gunner) stuff.

checking out the results for Section 2 I came across the reason Wincowski put up 37 shots. Lake George's second leading scorer broke both wrists in a fall in game against first round opponent Middleburg.
local press who had not seen him play yet are seeing him in the sectionals... and some comments from them...
"I finally got to see Lake George guard Joel Wincowski play. Wincowski leads the area in scoring this season at 29.2 ppg. He’s a star. He had 38 on Saturday, including six three-pointers. He’s scored 30 or more on 11 occasions, and scored 47 against Bolton and 48 against Argyle. He can get to the rim; he can handle the ball. And he can hit the three from five feet behind the line. He has the green light to shoot, and he puts up these numbers with the other team giving him all their attention every night."
and from the opposing coach for tonight.. "To reach the final, Saratoga Catholic will have to go through a 6-foot-2 junior Mantia says is, “truly the most complete all-around guard in Section II basketball.”
And while the offensive statistics are impressive — 29.2 points-per-game accounting for 42.8 percent of the Warriors’ regular season scoring — they don’t show how complete a player Wincowski is on the court.
“He impacts the game with his court vision, his ability to penetrate and finish first contact at the rim,” Mantia said. “We watched him the other day, he had eight steals but also nine deflections. He impacts the game on defense as much as on offense. This is a kid who can be off from outside and still be MVP.”

He looks very fluid on the court in video. I hope he beats Saratoga C. so I get a chance to see him play after Thursday.

Is JW a man among boys on the "D' level? Absolutely. He wouldn't be getting 8 steals, or 9 deflections agaisnt "AA" kids, trust me. The difference in speed of the game between the D and AA levels is like night and day. I hope he wins tonight so I can see him play on the weekend.

we all know there is a speed and talent difference. The real question is ... how will his game translate and how will he adjust to be effective. Rather than expecting him to be a dud at the next level... I want to see how his game translates as he plays throughout the playoffs (without their second leading scorer) and as he moves on to the City Rocks.
