Part of this isn't patsos fault but we are likely looking at a 4th straight losing season. A fifth one may be on the horizon if we don't get the recruits. The fouling issue is not going to go away with just athleticism. Two glaring issues-- talent and coaching philosophy. No doubt this staff is better than the last one. But is it good enough? I hope so but I admit I am "antsy". Good enough to have Siena competitive and with winning records - 100% no doubt. Good enough to get us where Fran had us the jury is still out and will be for a little while longer. Hewitt made the NCAAs in his second year - Deane/Fran in their third year (Lanier actually made it in his first! - maybe this isn't the best measuring stick) I think we will absolutely have a winning record next year...hell we are a few bounds and a ridiculous early season schedule away from one this season. Jimmy is no fool..the schedule isn't horrible next year but there are no BCS programs on it. He knows he needs to get the on the fence people on his side. We have to wait to see the final roster but right now I like our chances to win over 20 games next year and get to postseason of some kind. By his third season I think we'll have a really good chance of going to the NCAA tournament..with some luck maybe even that gets moved up to next year. The success we have next year will be built on with Poole, Cole and the current frosh. The recruits will simply be pieces to the puzzle but important pieces. We have to get a back-up PG. Marquis Wright can't do it all. And we need more athletic ability up front. The fouls are a big concern and I expect it will be addressed in the off season. Part of it is coaching philosophy are party of it is just inexperience on the players' part.

Unless there is some mass player exodus or extremely bad string of injuries, there's no way we have a losing record next season. I'm in the camp that will give this coaching staff the benefit of the doubt with the recruits committed thus far.

Sorry, but without the recruits the team is essentially the same as it is this year with the addition of Cole. Ordinarily, I wouldn't be concerned but with the fact that the team is the worst in the nation at DQs and in the top 10 in fouls the best players are not on the floor at key points in the game. I didn't say that we would have a losing record next year. I'm just saying that we need the recruits, and we need the fouling issue to be fixed. Right now both of those are in doubt-- I don't think anyone can say that there is "no way" we won't have a winning record, not when we can't even stay competitive with a team like St. Peter's when the guy with the pointy finger in your avatar fouls himself out of the game.

Cole alone changes things quite a bit... as does Paige. Everyone can play their more natural positions and team speed becomes far less a factor and yes team speed is one of the biggest driving factors for fouls

I'm glad Saintsfan is liking Cole, Paige and Gottfried. I'm not kissing his @$$ but Saintsfan was on the money with the PW from day one. And he is not afraid to call Siena out when the program deserves it. He's not like say yours truly hopeless optimist

MTS, you seem to forget, NO ONE WANTED the Siena job when Fran left. It was a bad job. There was no talent left except Rossiter, and unrealistic expectations were thru the roof. Many people didn't want Mitch (I wanted Coen), but tried to support him while he was here.
With that, our two biggest recruiting needs still haven't been met.

Fran came right out and pimped mitch. Not many were going to waste the time when players and exiting coach were pumping a long time assistant with head coaching experience. You are one of very few who believe Mitch was left nothing... and again.. it's bullshit

Out here? lol Let's be honest, this is the land of, "we are the greatest" and not always honest with themselves, especailly after having the level of sucsess we had. I'll go with my proof that the 3 finalsits were: Mitch, Coen and Warren! LOL No smart coach would follow the Big three, multiple NCAA tournament appearances, and inherit a backcourt of Downey and Griffin! ps--CJ would be GREAT next to Wright. Next to Evan he'd be exposed as the one-dimesional player he was. ps--you act like "pimping out" your top assistant isn't a normal action for a departing coach? Of course Fran tried to help his friend get the job, and it worked. Another reason for most of you to get your nose out of the Iowa head coaches a$$. He smiled, screwed us several which ways, and you guys keep writing about the Hawkeyes and what they're doing!?

Reuter and Prochet are out of reach If these guys are out of reach, what about Adams, he already has 8-10 offers from BCS programs. But some of the others might be worth a look.

Not sure about Adams, but he may be the kid Providence and UCONN have been on for awhile. I think Figures and Pettway are 2014 kids

Th24-your recruit list is identical to the one RECRUIRECON has for St. Bonaventure.

How about Clarence Jackson & OD. Plus Wignot who was a nice role player in Frans system and Poole coming in. Certainly not the big three but the cupboard wasn't exactly Rossister and nothing else....

Clarence Jackson was third team all league 2009-10, no talent besides Rossiter?
