This is the problem right now... no legit scoring threat at the two right now. and why theyve gone to the "big" lineup. I expect that with reinforcements coming next year that you wont see that lineup nearly as often What about White? I think the kid needs some more playing time. He can attack the rim, he is strong, he can rebound generally has a good shot. What am I missing with him, why isn't he playing more? I see Mo as a natural, intense athlete. I think the issue is he has trouble reigning in his emotions and he tries too hard when he has gotten the chance. The first few games, I believe, he wasn't feeling any pressure, he was just 'going with it' and letting the game come to him. I think as we got deeper into the tough part of the schedule (upper echelon competition), his confidence in his natural abilities were shaken, and he also was getting into the 'meat' of academics. I expect this will all start to come together after he gets year one under his belt. He definitely has the body to be more than a decent guard in the MAAC.

White shoots 31% from the field and is 1/14 from 3 for the season. That's why.

I understand the trepidation based on those numbers, but he needs to be confident that he isn't going to get a quick hook. He really doesn't need to shoot the three, IMHO, he needs to slash or shoot from 10-15 feet. I believe we will see a big jump from him.

as white gets acclimated to finishing and can focus on shooting etc... he should make a very big leap. He is already one of the best defenders on the team

He was constantly getting a quick hook. hard to get into a flow or build confidence. he plays a relentless style which sparks a team at times. yes I know he can be out of control at times but isn't this first year of Patsos' rebuilding of the program the year to let him figure this out? I agree he will have a big jump next year. maybe a bigger jump than any other freshman. would like to see some PT for JO and Wolfe also the last 6 games. If it costs us a game so be it. I rather see more player development and experience even if we finish 6th instead of 5th. too me it is just not that important for this season and it may actually give the team an extra game to play in the MAAC tourney. Just my opinion

Yeah - I think Huerter just said tonite's was the same crew that just did Iowa-Michigan and thought they gave us a lot of the close ones. Only Gene Steratore (NFL referee who did the NFC championship game) did the Michigan-Iowa game. Correct, that's what Tommy said. I think Indian82 heard the part about the 2 or 3 from last night's crew mainly do higher level games but the MAAC makes anyone wanting to ref the MAAC Tournament to ref at least 5 MAAC games a year. We benefited by having a higher caliber crew last night. I never knew about the 5 game rule for MAAC tourney. At least the MAAC recognized the need for talent in the tourney. One minor draw back would be their way of calling a games versus the crappy (in experienced) refs. Teams might not be used to the way more experienced refs call the game. I'd still prefer the better refs no matter the outcome. JMO

I can see White being a real good player for us. Hoping for White, JO & Wolfe to make the improvement that we say in Brett this season. I know it's a little unfair to Brett. Exhausted I always thought he'd be this good (MN diesn't offer a kid that doesn't show potential IMI) it's just he didn't have the opportunity to show it last yr. As for Wright & Long, we may not see as material a jump because they're pretty good this year. I think we should see a bigger "jump" in White, JO & Wolfe's compared to their Frosh yr.

It's interesting about White. He is definitely one of the young players that every fan is going to be excited about next year. How far his jump in development is going to be is one of the more fun and intriguing questions to be answered and debated next season. Although I love his power, defensive abilities and overall athleticism, I think the biggest problem for him has been situational. JP has pulled him a lot of times because of the stagnantcy in the entire unit offensively that's on the floor. Not enough ball movement and Mo at the 2 is sometimes one of the people. I think JP feels he has to go with more experience and flow (or 3pt. shooting), and that means Evan and/or Oliver. I agree with the comments about his play early on, he was quick and immediate, than he started thinking too much, hesitating. At times he doesn't move well in the offense and stands around too much. In the past few games I think he has definitely starting to turn it on. Just being in there at crunch time (on defense) alternating with Evan has to really be building his confidence.
