Because which ever is the home team didn't want it on TV. Not sure either is the "home" team. And wouldn't either school welcome the opportunity to grow "their brand" across NYS? Just go to the game! You know you want to see it.

I do, that's why I'm pissed!! I had to give my suite tickets up! Was hoping for a miracle that it would be on TW-3, but of course it isn't!! Those brainiac schools want all that door money!! lol

Vandenburgh has (unintentionally) the most humorous radio program in America. By the way he never cared for and still talks poorly about Mike Deane.

They have to pay the production costs, might not want to incur same? So you're saying those two schools won't pony up HALF the production cost, ONCE a year, so both of them can showcase their schools across NYS?? Not buying it. I'll stick with their smart enough to know that if the game were offered on TV for free in this $hitty weather, the attendance would drop considerably.

If you live in the parts of NYS that are served by Time-Warner and you play hockey you already know who Union and RPI are (heck if you live anywhere east of Fresno you know who they are), they don't need to "build brand". There is a very different passion for hockey at these schools than there is for basketball at Siena or UA among the students and alumni. Short of a major ice storm the game could be shown on CBS sports and attendance wouldn't notice evene a blip, just the way it is. It doesn't hurt that the number three team in the nation is playing their arch-rival from 15 miles away. No different when Clarkson and St Lawrence get together (11 miles apart) or Harvard/Yale .. but that is the same way with everything with those two.

I've been told Siena needs to be on TV every game across the state to build their brand, and I obvioulsy think that's crap. People in Buffalo know/care about Siena basketball just as much as they know Union, or RPI hockey. And to your point, if the game would be packed anyway, and attendance wouldn't be affected(7100), then why not show it to the rest of the state on TW-3? If that many people went to the game, then it definitely merits being on TV too!! Makes no sense that Niagara/RIT was on instead.

I know I'm not the only one, but I prefer to watch televised games. If HJ got his way, I would have to go back to the radio. Oh, I got an idea, cut the radio off too. Lol. Why not? What about the video feed, should that be cut off as well. Welcome to the 21st century, people are watching games on their iPhones! You are acting like a fascist. People have lives outside of basketball, today I have to work, but I will take a break and watch the game. You would prefer that I not have that opportunity.

A side benefit of this happening would be a boost in revenue for Siena's pay-per-view package

People have lives outside of basketball, today I have to work, but I will take a break and watch the game. You would prefer that I not have that opportunity. I WANTED last nights game on TV, and am bitching why it wasn't! lol Why do the people that insist we need the games on TW-3 NEVER acknowledge my WHOLE solution??? You can see the game at home....at 9pm when it's over. Then you can tape it, and watch it in between your "life outside of basketball" schedule. I guess I'm one of the selfish fans that wants to improve our attendance so we can justify an A-10 move. Once we start winning again, the frontrunners will be back, and attendance will be at 8K every game again. The RPI/Union game wasn't on because both schools are smart enough to know it would hurt attendance if it was. Bu the immediate replay is a great idea because I am sympathetic to those that are either finacially strapped, elderly, etc...and can't attend in person, thus the replay. Funny thing is, I think a lot of people getting home from the arena would watch the replay too. IDEALLY it would be like the NFL network replays. No commercials, no halftime, no timeouts televised. Could watch the whole game in an hour

Does RPI and Union play in the Times Union Center every game? No. There is your answer.

Even though TWC announced "statewide coverage" at least in central NY they have replaced Siena men's basketball with regional games or even MAC games. I find the TWC has turned into non-stop 'Cuse be it women's sports and talk, RIT hockey men and women's hockey, high school re-plays and college basketball games out of Buffalo/ Ohio region. They are not even covered on TWC(2). A big step down and disappointment over past years.

It's a popular event, like Siena games. Since it's only once, $$$$ shouldn't be a problem with producing the chance to showcase their respective schools acrosss the state. But looking back at the coaches behavior at games end, maybe its better the rest of the state didn't see this game.

HJ you and I agree (okay, everyone get back up off the floor) the Niagra/RIT thing is a real "headscratcher". Only thing I can think of is that FIOS is kicking TW's butt in the western part of the state but not in the CD. That would explain "bigdog"'s post above as well. Anyway, since I live in "cablevision land" makes no difference to me, I just watch on line and get up to the TUC when I can.
