It was a great win. I think that Glen is trying to say that the team still needs a lot of work because it is unable to put together a full game. Everything Glen said happened in the first half and part of the second half is what will lead to a bunch of losses in the maac, especially on the road. I don't think this is rocket science or a leap-- it's okay to temper expectations a bit. Happy New Year!

A couple of thoughts Tony, though I agree with all you said...it is funny, out here in Olean, Bona faithful were "embarrassed" to lose to us, and definitely believe we are not on their level (a sentiment likely shared by most A-10 teams...can't wait till we are one of them). As far as the crowd, it is a shame we don't have the student support that we should (when they are in session, of course). Props go to the Bona student section, they bring it!! I understand the on-campus facility vs downtown arena aspect, but I don't buy it. When I was a Siena student, we were pretty wild, back in the ARC (drinking age 18 helped)...but if I were a student today, I would not miss a game, no matter how I had to get downtown. These current students do not realize how lucky they are to have a quality D1 program to support.

I certainly agree there are things to work on and getting down by 22 is not a good thing, but by the end of the day to score 79 no matter the distribution by half is a good thing. Expectations don't change based on one half of basketball, but I like what I see and a win like this will help the program particularly when you can look at the film and discuss the stark contrast in mind set and effort that it takes to be competitive on the DI level. To have a teaching moment and a win is a good thing.

I watched the whole game. We only played for 10 minutes. We spotted Fordham 30 minutes. Yes we won but in the same type of game v. Canisius we were lucky to lose by 15. All I'm saying is that we played poorly for the majority of the game. The W is a great thing for a young team learning to win but don't delude yourself - we stunk up the place last night. Fortunately Fordham collapsed. I'll note that as the pace quickened we did WAY better. That 22-0 run, IMO, was mostly due to pressing the tempo. Even when we were in a half-court O during that time the pace was notably quicker and players were WAY more active. The first 30 minutes the movement was much less. We'd passs the ball around the perimeter then someone would drive the lane into 3 trees when the shot clock got to 10. I know I sound negative - I am a little...maybe just cautious. I still have faith in Jimmy and I expect we'll see great things but wow was that bad hoops for the first half or so of the game. Also, while I'm being negative...can anyone explain to me why Jimmy burns a TO when the next dead ball is a media TO? I don't get it. Glen did you watch game on TV? If so get your ass to game and you might have felt differently

You are right, I was confusing this comeback with Deane's greatest Siena collapse to St. Peters up 22 with about 10 to go. Very bad loss, I'm sure Fordham will remember last nights loss the way Siena fans remember the St. Peter's game, but at least their loss was on the road. Even the best coaches have nightmare's to live through.

Victory over Fordham moved Saints up 18 places in REAL TIME RPI to rank 197.

Did you know? Siena's 52 points in the second half was the most in one half since February 2011. From the Siena Athletic Department.
