We still need the guy who can create his own shot and a consistent 3 point threat. We ran way too much clock........... often.

Not a pretty game-- pretty ugly really. Haven t seen Lavon in what 40 days-- I swear he looked leaner and more muscular.. We have to figure out a way to get kid more shots( plus he has to stay out of foul trouble) really nice game by White tonight off bench - if we dont play better next week Fordham will beat us

I'll take it. Hoftra is pretty bad and we had a hard time beating them. We need shooters. Lavon played well. Happy about Maurice white. They played well enough to win, but that's about it. Rome wasn't built a day. We really grinded out a solid win. The team is learning how to win games. Hofstra doesn't have a ton but you know what when you are playing a lot of frosh every game is tough and every win is important. Protecting the home court is very important and we 2-1 so far doing that. Lavon, Maurice and Marquis all played great tonight. Lavon was the offense in the first half. He is so smooth...we need to get him more involved in the offense. Maurice is just a tough kid who gets his nose dirty and makes plays. Marquis hit two huge FTs...a big 3 and runs the offense like a good PG does. I like Bisping's effort but we really need JO to get his wind back he is an important cog to the puzzle. Anyone know why Wolfe didn't play more? Good win...on to Fordham next week let's finish out the OOC strong! GO SAINTS!!!!!

Wolfe didnt play more because every 1 spectacular play he makes he has 3 costly mistakes

Silas and Bisping should still be the starting 4 and 5 even with a fully healthy JO. He can come in and spell both spots, and Wolfe or Long should give spot minutes behind him.

I thought Wright should have tried to break down the zone more. White again was tough out there, seemed to get every possible board and only missed 3 shots. Held my breath on the dunk. Nice win.

I agree, they aren't always pretty wins but they all count one. Those of you who have been here for a few years know I have a soft spot for guys who play with guts and heart, not always flashy smooth, "John Madden" sort of basketball, and tonight was one of those nights. Tough, hardnosed defense, and "work your ass off offense" won this game.

Loved the big free throws by the freshman down the stretch. Agreed that Lavon needs to become more of a go to guy on offense. Scorekeeper seemed a little tough on the assists, would have sworn Wright had at least 2 or 3 and Lavon had 3 or 4.

GREAT EFFORT from all the kids tonight!! Everyone played hard! White was GREAT off the bench!! Lots of energy and toughness on the glass! Lavon played a real good all around game and made his shots. Poole took his game inside after struggling again from the perimeter. He was effective inside, but this proves we really need to recruit some shooters. Another 2-9 from the 3 pt line tonight for us. We really can't count on anyone to hit the deep jumper.
I thought JP was going to stick to a 8-9 man roatation because with about 3 min to play in the half the only guys that got off the bench were: White, Hymes and JO. Then the token minute for Oliver and Audu, and no run for Wolfe after a great performance in the Canisius game? He wasn't hurt, so he must have practiced poorly the last two weeks.
Evan didn't score, but he really made an effort on the defensive end, and had 4 assists with only 1 TO!! Great job EH!

Definitely looked leaner. The kid is smooth and deceptively athletic.

Many positives in this game.

Hard fought gutsy win over a scrappy but, thankfully, inefficient Hofstra team. Showed the "truth" in the old axiom that ugly teams can make you play ugly. Love the way the kids take the rants from our over-active HC. Jimmy is balancing having the right mix on the floor with teaching time and re-molding to convert the kids to Patsos-style hoop. Last night was a first - the "learning seat" between Greg and Luke expanded by one - like two guys in the penalty box! White was most impressive and hopefully has turned the confidence-I'm-buying in corner. For those that like to look ahead, picture him and Pat Cole on the floor at the same time!!! I believe Audu was used late as an attempt to spark our 3pt "defense" (feels like a stretch to call it that) - I did see Jimmy prepping Rich a couple of possessions earlier. I find Jimmy to be pleasantly distracting - I used to watch the ball almost exclusively and now I find myself glancing at the bench continually. He is a showman. Great game from a less than 100% Poole - still recovering from a stomach bug. Nice to have a W for the kids to smile and talk about over the Christmas break.
