Jimmy knew what a mess he was inheriting. The key word here is, ACCOUNTABILITY. He is breaking these kids down, and getting them accustomed to being held responsible for all their mistakes. Physical, and mental. Make a mistake, come out. Rule is for EVERYONE from the best player to the worst. Doesn't matter. This philosophy is needed to change the mentality in this program since PW took over and left.
I like it, and get it. I don't think it'll go on all year. I think he'll settle on a 8 or 9 man rotation in 2014, and even let them play thru their mistakes. For now, it a learning process that mistakes need to be eliminated to the best of each players ability.
While this "breaking them down" project is going on, JP and his staff are teaching at all times, and it's evident. Along with on court toughness being a prerequisite for playing time. This team should be on all cylinders come March.
----as for the timeouts, last night I think JP used 4 of them when the next dead ball was timeout?? I hope that was by design, but I'm still convinced this tournament is a 4 day experiement against superior atheltes with older players. Any win we could steal would be a bonus.

Since it was Club Med around here for the past 3 years, a little marine influence might go a long way.

I NEVER agree with you but this post is dead on. I was dead wrong getting on this board and complaining Lavon never does..as I said before he will do whatever is asked of him...we watched Patsos coach at Loyola and know a lot of the players personally. ..we knew what to expect and I knew Lavon can handle it...Lavon needs to execute and will be held accountable for his mistakes. I am very proud of the way he is responding. ..not looking for excuses but giving his best effort and accepting coaching from the staff...all of the freshmen were expecting this.. the returners learned quickly and are adapting because they have no choice... I regret my outburst more than you know... Lavon will get it done in whatever role Patsos wants him to fill...this team will be very good because of it

You're a great parent to your son, and he's lucky to have you. Your passion for him, and his game is understandable. The posters out here just want the TEAM to get back to where we once were, on top. Your son is a key component to that happening. He's learning to play with foul trouble. and its not an easy thing to do for a freshman. I have no doubt he'll learn, and be a better player for it.
In THIS tournament, I feel bad for him having to play the 4 because these teams are so big compared to what we'll face in the MAAC. He's one of our 5 best players so he should get major minutes, whereever it is.
Let's hope the kids can salvage a win tomorrow and make this trip a real success.

If it's a break em down to build them up, perfect. Your take seems legit to me and all this time I thought it was ADD squared.

I completely agree with you HJ (and I think MP said so in another post that setting the foundation was most important vs our record early on). Not only does Jimmy have to rebuild the team he has to "change the culture". Now that's said a lot in sports probably too much but I think it is appropriate in our situation. Fran and Paul Hewitt also had to rebuilding/change the messages in their situations too. One major reason team's struggle are a lack of accountability and discipline - not surprising all of our losing coaches had it and our successful ones did not.
