I agree with Junkie, I am a big Poole fan but he is not the man, more of the #2 guy - he will do well in MAAC play and probably average 15 ppg. I also still get frustrated with Evan (Sorry Tony), he holds the ball way to much and makes too many turnover. He needs to move the ball more on offense and he will still gets his shots and points. I guess we can't blame Mitch for Evan's dribbling, it must be part of his psyche. I'm sure JP is frustrated by this too. Problem is there are only 2 3/4 ball handlers in Hymes, Wright and Poole. I hold my breath when Oliver is dribbling...... Same with Audu. I really wish Oliver would develop the catch and shoot mentality.

th24, optimism and being positive are great, but your post above borders on delusional and sets up very unrealistic expectations for what is clearly a rebuilding year (if you were being "tongue in cheek", my apologies!) We get so focused on our own players and program that we tend to overlook the fact that other MAAC schools have players also; Rob Poole is a good player who gives effort, but the odds of him ever being a 1st (or even 2nd) ALL MAAC player are very doubtful. His inability to create his own shot, lack of quickness and being marginal at setting up his teammates (assists)limit his upside. I agree with most of your post, except the "marginal at setting up his teammates" part. He had over 100 career assists coming into the year (72 as a freshman), on horrible offensive teams. That's just not his role now with an actual point guard in Wright and Hymes a little more under control.

Upstate, point well taken and you are probably right on. I just get a little frustrated occasionally when Rob is jacking up shots with 2 or 3 players running at him and a teammate open. However, this seems to be diminishing (with Evan also) this year.

And I couldn’t be happier with job Jimmy has done. He has brought in some good young talent and veterans have “bought” in to Jimmy’s game. No players making a bigger turn around than Hymes or Bisping- get off their jocks please. Wright is the real deal and will only get better. White is struggling a bit in “up” games, but he will come around. Wolfe has a huge upside, kid just needs to get stronger. Lavon has shown huge potential to be a very good player for us, another kid that is adjusting to level of competition we have been facing lately. Another player to get off their backs is Poole-- C’mon will you every team we face concentrating on shutting him down- want proof—how many wide open 3’s does Rob get- now contrast that with Oliver.. and you’ll see what I’m talking about. We really need Ryan to take those open 3’s when they present themselves. The other thing we desperately need is JO back. Silas and Bisping have done well done low- but they both are mainly junk scorers and not a true low post presence , Javion gives us that presence and we need him back desperately – to loosen things up on perimeter. Over all one would think Siena fans would be upset with 2-5 – given the rebuilding job Jimmy faced, the demanding schedule the program wrecker handed him and I personally couldn’t be happier. We will get thru this stretch and team will be better for having gone thru it. Our young guys will continue to improve. The next two games are gravy—then it’s off for Buffalo trip.( and the end of the crazy portion of our schedule) We then get 10 of next 13 games at home, including one stretch with 6 straight home games. MAAC teams better get us this year- because it’s not going to be so easy very very soon. Program is indeed in good hands and the future is sooooo damn bright Tony, I love hearing you talk this way and I agree with every word. I'm thrilled with JP and his staff AND the kids!

it's funny that we are 2 buzzer beaters away from 0-8 and everyone is as optimistic as ever. it just goes to show you that W and Ls aren't everything.
For the record I am with optimistic crowd. It just seems funny to see Siena fans happy once again even though they are inches away from being winless 25% through the season.

At this point, Oliver is too tentative and doesn't pull the trigger when he is open and doesn't put the ball to the floor to attack the hoop when the D is up on him. Unless that changes, his time will no doubt diminish.

Winless or a losing record last year was a way too realistic look into the future and not a good one. 2-6 this year gives an entirely different look into the future and all are buying in, as they should be. We have a "coach" again with a staff that he uses and not abuses. He's working to fit the pieces together - a little trimming here, a little trimming there and we will soon see big dividends. Remember, he inherited half this team and those kids had regressed from their original skill levels so Jimmy has a full plate (not only at the restaurant, LOL) in front of him that he will, characteristically make short work of.

I'd still be optimistic although the pressure would start to build on a young team to get rid of that zero in the win column thankfully that's been taken care of... And yes we could easily be 0-8 but we also could be 4-4 against an unforgiving schedule. Saintsfan had said it was likely we would start 0-13 (which wasn't out of the question). We could lose the next three and start 2-9 and I still wouldn't panic...so many road games and a tough situation for a young team. I bet we find a way to get one of the next three before finals breaks - probably one of the Buffalo games but who knows Purdue on a neutral court without the Big 10 homer refs isn't out of the question either.

I agree. For me it's the "no quit" attitude this team shows. Yes, we're 3 points away from being winless, but we also could/should have beaten VT, LaSalle & Purdue on the road.
