Incredibly frustrating game...just a terrible start and we never recovered. This was our WORST game by far this season. At least we fought hard the entire game. But we lack the talent to play "up" teams (A10 or better) outside of the freshmen. Bottom line we have not held anyone under 70 points after 8 games...it's going to be tough to win if we don't play defense regardless of the competition. We miss JO more than I would have thought - inside defense is pretty bad right now. Need a day off..and see what we can do against Purdue in a rematch from his week. No one to hang outside of the freshman? Worst post of the year. The juniors have carried this team during games and bisping too I should have worded it differently...I'm talking in the up games.. Hymes/Poole/Bisping/Silas have all played well most of the season but when you go up in competition you need more playmakers and more athletes. The freshmen have it (to what level time will tell) but are freshmen. Role players (that's not a bad word either) and young players tend to do better at home and against a more level playing field. That doesn't mean Hymes/Bisping/Poole can't play well when they step up in class (they've already done so this year) but the margin for error is much smaller. One more in Orlando and then the Buffalo trip...this schedule will hopefully make the team tougher for the MAAC especially once we start playing a lot of home games.

Ughhhhh, tough onen to watch. Pooole got off to a good start then went 0-8 the rest of the way, but he did rebound! Wright is such a key for us. Love his floor game, and he's gaining confidence in his shooting. White was awful the first half, played better in the 2nd. Long and Imoh played decent but both couldn't stay out of foul trouble...again! ;(
Oliver started tonight, but then Jimmy seemed to forget about him as the game went on, and gve Audu twice as many (16) minutes. Hymes played poorly.
Good game for growth, and we never quit after a lethargic first half by the whole group. REFS were way too noticable, and domintaed tonights gaame, which usually happens anytime that egomaniac Karl Hess has your game.
Purdue at 5pm Sunday. Hope the kids show some pride and refeuse to leave Disney with a goose egg!

This game was disappointing to me because I thought we had a chance to beat this team BUT when you come out with little energy/defensive effort, that's why you lose the game. Missing shots was another concern.
Purdue on Sunday. Go on the rides, get your mind off basketball, and come back ready to play.

Woke up hoping it was just a nightmare.
Lavon was the only one that played consistently in this game, but he's still picking up bad fouls here and there. I was glad to see him make it to the end, though. He's attempted two 3's this season, and neither of them touched the rim on their way through...just a thought.
I like Audu's aggressiveness over Oliver at this point; Ryan is still too passive. Brett did OK, didn't score much, but he has been solid. His sophomore jump has been huge (thanks, JP).
White's toughness and activity level are great, but WTF with the spastic layup/dunk attempts? That kinda pisses me off and I'm sure it pisses him off, too. He needs to make those shots! Repeatedly missing those opportunities will continue to limit his minutes if he doesn't get his sh*t together.
Marquis struggled some tonight, but was still pretty solid, and made a couple of nice perimeter shots. Needs to work on FT shooting.
Rob started off well, but then went ice cold. Evan had a rough game, and Silas fouled out despite some matador defense at times. Rough night for our juniors, overall.
I like that Wolfe is getting some minutes, and he hit a three. Good experience for him. With that said, we need JO back ASAP. Hope to see him on Sunday.
Gonna try to sleep a little more and put that first half (where we made St. Joe's look like Memphis) out of my head.

Vermont is still the worst game, we pulled a half out of this one. Unfortunately these last 2 games give anybody who can shoot a game plan to kill us...........

Hang in there-- game was a stinker- and playing all the freshmen+ ( and inexperienced players) because really other than Poole and Hymes-- whole team is inexperienced. Our Defense has to get better, we have to finish at rim. Front court will get better with the return of JO. Not only is Javion our best low post threat- it gives us that extra depth with all the fouls.
And Oh Yeah take some time and teach these kids how to run a alley ooop.. we are about 2 for 15 on entire year on that play- I've never seen so many poor passes on that play

It seems to me: White needs some soak time on the floor, the constant jerking in and out is not being handled by him - let him play through a mistake or two Lazy, well announced ball reversals don't work against quick athletes Bounce passes take longer to complete and are easier to track and steal White, Audu, Hymes only ones looking to attack the rim Long's inbounding bounce passes against pressure look like a turnover waiting to happen - too many bounce too close to receiver Wiah we hadn't redshirted Marcus - could use his size and presence until the foul situation changes Wolfe needs to be out there more minutes and earlier
I doubt Purdue will play us like the last game - they will be pissed at their showing in Orlando and we will be in for a war - Jimmy should let some of the young guys play through mistakes - they need the time and not be too worried about making a mistake
Save some timeouts for the second half - we seem to be coming out of the locker room inspired and a TO might benefit other than for a tongue lashing - not Jimmy's style but it can't hurt
Likely another L coming - more important to get something to build on during the Purdue rematch - Friday vs Niagara is coming too quickly

You can rest assured Purdue will be prepared for Hymes and Bisping both of whom had good games Vs Boilermakers- Brett is more a garbage player ( and I say that in a nice way) so if he get attention ( see St Joes game) he is pretty easy to shut down. Problem with White, for every good play he makes, he makes 2 dumb ones. And only so much attacking the rim you can do if opponents back off you. Other than Poole, we have to have someone hit a outside shot- Brett can shoot a 3- but he needs to be open, but he can be used as a decoy-- post him out there if Purdue guards him-- less Purdue defenders defending the rim, if they dont guard him, I have no problem with Brett taking that shot
Saints need to buckle down on D.. cant keep giving up 70 plus points a game. We have a few weak defensive players.. and several freshmen that are in wrong spot at wrong time and add it up and we have a porous defense. Opponents are shooting 38% from 3 against us and we are being outscored by avg 8 points a game on foul line --in fact we are reversed on Fran's famous goal of make more free throws than opponents attempt , in that we have only attempted 175 free throws ( making 116) vs our Opponents who have made 174 free throws in 260 attempts. Now some of that is level of competition. But until we get those numbers straighten out we will continue to lose

the asst coach on the radio post game said it best, our guards can't prevent the dribble drive, causing the bigs to defend which leads to fouls... need to stop the penetration.

I really found it unfair that Oliver gets the start and looks off two wide open shots and had two extremely horrible turnovers in all of 3 or 4 mins before getting yanked and white gets yanked the moment he makes one mistake The posts regarding the upper class say it best. There is a difference in athleticism and potential. The upper class have done well when playing against similar competition and yes hymes had a good game against purdue who overlooked his speed. If the PW had been able to recruit we would probably see some differences. The upper class have been playing hard but have also had a lot of the horrendous turnovers we've seen. Hymes and Poole in particular. This team isnt yet built to play "up" but certainly has some nice young building blocks. - Lets get to the MAAC season and hope to go over .500 in conference. Lets sign some additional talent for next year. We all knew or at least I hope we knew (and still remember) that this is a total rebuild job. * sucks... I wish we had poole two years from now. He would be tremendous in a secondary role. * I wish we didnt play purdue again. There is a chance siena gets throttled and some of the confidence from the first game is gone

Our guards get beat off the dribble easily and our help defense is late rotating over and with the new emphasis on the block/charge rule almost everything is a block. Granted Memphis has some of the best athletes in the country and Galloway played off the charts last night, we need to defend better. Can't run and press if you are turning the ball over and not making shots.

I am not really concerned. Everybody is getting valuable experience and Jimmy is learning a lot about these guys (frosh & vets). We have seen that we have talent as a team to compete in the MAAC. We need to come out of Orlando healthy and with confidence intact and be ready for next week's games. That will tell a lot. The confidence part is up to Jimmy - I believe he can do that.
Purdue will be tough - they know what we have now. Need to have the kids get the first two games behind them and play tough in that game. Unless he is 100% ready, I hope Javion does not play. These games are not nearly as important as the 2 road games next weekend.
