Bold stats need marked improvement and red stats need even more ....
Hymes .382 fg% .361 3pt% .783 ft% 3.71 asts 1.10 ast/to ratio Brookins 0 games .358 fg% .341 3pt% .729 ft% Burdine .347 fg% .242 3pt% .759 ft% 0.90 rbs Poole .341 fg% .274 3pt% .703 ft% 3.26 rbs
Anosike - overall OD has really progressed. It will be interesting to see if he continues to show improvement at the FT line. He went from .370 as a rookie to .450 as a soph to .561 last season.
Siena is REALLY going to need some shooters to emerge. Hymes, Brookins, Burdine, Poole .... AT LEAST two of these guys are going to have to show marked improvement from the field. Perhaps Audu or Oliver will come out shooting. If this group continues to wallow in the mid 30s percentage wise its going to be a long season as there wont be much help for OD
someone will also have to assist Anosike on the glass and one of the bigs will have to begin to emerge as a second threat in the post to help take pressure off OD.

Siena's outside shooting has to improve - it honestly could not get much worse than last year, when we finished last in the MAAC in 3pt%.
Brookins was at least a serviceable three point threat his freshman year, and can hopefully at least match or slightly improve upon 34%. As you highlighted, Poole & Burdine have to both up their percentages, particularly Poole who was expected to be a sniper. I hope that Oliver lives up to his billing as a long ball threat, this team will need it.

We need that lousy outside shooting so OD can keep his rebounding at an All American level!

We need to run a balanced offense. I'm hoping Brookins and Hymes have green light to shoot early in shot clock if set and open. If they are chucking up desperation shots at end of shot clock shooting pct will not improve
As for most important stat I'll go with PPG..if we are struggling to score 65 points a game ( again) I look for this season to be very similar to last two. If we are scoring 70 or better..whoa its gonna be a real good year

let's face it, Burdine is really like a frosh all over again, whatever he gives us is a plus and very difficult to compare his past since he hasn't been on the floor that much!!!!!!

The kids can shoot it - if you're around 35% as a freshman from deep, chances are you can shoot the basketball. Poole struggled, but closed out the season strong. Play good defense, rebound the basketball and they'll win a lot of games.

Play good defense, rebound the basketball and they'll win a lot of games. in the last ten games of the season Poole shot .294 from the field .212 from three. he improved a little over the last five games shooting .366 from the field and .316 from three. hopefully that trend stays upward. The numbers are somewhat skewed by the breakout game he had against Manhattan but hopefully that is a sign of things to come as well

I think Poole's shooting #'s will go up now that he has a more defined role this year and will be more comfortable. Last year it was sort of a free for all to get to the end of the game with 5 guys on the floor who could compete.

Our starting SG last year shot a woeful 27.8% from 3 last year. He's being replaced by Rahk, who shot 34% his Freshman season. I expect Poole to improve his perimeter shooting to at least match, if not surpass, Wignot's 31% from last year. If Oliver can be an impact perimeter threat as he's expected to be, I'm confident that 3 pt. shooting won't be the achilles heel that it was last year.

all of the Saints stats should be on the increase for this season..........first we have more than 6 players to use in games ...........and the roster last year was very limited by the ability of that talent that was on the floor ............this year, there is very good depth at every position and the capability is there to have solid inside scoring along with multiple outside threats.........Siena again should be a team that is very hard to defend!!!!!!!

We need to shoot the three better. Evan shot it pretty well for a freshman, hopefully he improves. Brookins should help with outside shooting. The key is Poole. He was a good long-term shooter in HS and you don't forget how to shoot so we'll see if he can improve his form. Oliver is the wildcard. Three-point shooting is his specialty.
But even our elite teams did not shoot the three well... we haven't have a consistent threat since Tay Fisher (Kenny was good, CJ was up and down shooting)

Poole will shoot it much better this season for sure.........last year, he got no rest and wore down, playing mucho minutes on both ends affects your shot when legs are tired.......plus our offensive sets were limited........with the added depth and flexible roster, guys won't be expected to play 35+ minutes every game, and that's a good thing overall!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't agree with you more! I was at times concerned about their health, especially Poole. Anyone that was there last year, game after game, you had to be amazed as to how well they played with the lack of a bench. Let's not forget how pleasantly surprised we were, and how they exceeded our expectations! Most of us didn't expect much from Poole his first year in spite of his rep as a shooter. We saw a 1st year player that proved to be much more of a complete player, that played intelligently and had a good understanding of the game. I think we are going to be very happy with his progress this year, maturity-wise (basketball) and with his stats. This kid is a player!!

Teams that shoot the 3 and do it well look unbeatable at times. The thing is you are going to have off nights, good teams figure out how to win on those off nights. I'm looking forward to a season of seeing a bunch of 3's.
