I think a lot of the fans on the board have lost sight at what this season is supposed to be about. Too many concerns over if Siena finishes 4th or 8th. This is the rebuilding year, so play the freshman. Is the frontcourt that good that a player with Wolfe's athletic and shooting ability can't play 10-12 minutes a game? I don't believe you get better sitting out. You get better by playing in real games especially against the tough OOC schedule this year. "What this season is supposed to be about" Every season is supposed to be about winning. I understand winning is the idea, but this year with 5 freshmen even more important is developing them and see exactly what you got and for the staff to see where they fit in. If it costs a couple wins so be it. Patsos is not under the gun this year. If Wolfe can't get 10-12 minutes this year what will change next year with everybody returning and gaining live game experience? He is not your typical project for a MAAC recruit his length, he has skills. Just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

Just not because this season is "about" playing freshman. I believe it's about winning and I believe his size and skills are needed.

I agree with magic. We need him for his skills and to help us win games. I see no reason to redshirt anybody-- we do not have an overwhelming amount of talent to start stockpiling for future use. 13>12.

If Wolfe DIDN'T redshirt, what's his Wins Over Replacement value? If he doesn't redshirt and plays 5 MPG, is that significantly beneficial to this year's team OR to Wolfe himself? That equates to 160 minutes of on-court time, or about the amount of playing time of the first five games of Evan Hymes' career. To want him to play right away to provide minimal front-court assistance this year is shortsighted. It looks like he has significant upside and could be a fine player for the Green & Gold. An even better one in four years than this year. Redshirting him is a LUXURY our picked-10th-team doesn't have. And I don't know about you guys, but I'm hoping/assumming we'll be getting better players than Wolfe 4 years from now anyway! I mean why not redshirt the 5th guard this year too right? Why "waste" a year of minimal play on him too? Can't have it both ways.

Wolfe is not red shirting this season. He will play and have a solid role off the bench.

I don’t think it’s having it both ways. Redhsirting the 5th guard doesn’t make sense unless you feel there is a significant “upside” to the player. In Wolfe’s case there is a significant upside, in fact had he gone prep doubtful we would have been able to sign him next year . With Wolfe size ( or lack there of, kid is really thin) I don’t see how he can get playing time ahead of Imoh, JO, Bisping and Long. At any rate if Jimmy feels Wolfe will be in playing group I’m sure he will play this year. I just don’t see it happening, but hey I’ve been wrong before

Capper who do you think he will play ahead of?..I see Silas, JO, Bisping, Long, Poole White, Hymes, Wright as locks for playing time, if Cole is eligible that's 9.. Wolfe is really thin, I dont think he can defend inside at D1 level

Tony, if he can't defend inside at the D1 level than better let his eligibility run out in 4 years instead of 5 so we can get better players sooner. We've had three straight years of losing. We need players who can play, now. 5 years from now, who knows-- the average life span of a Siena coach is less than 5 years, let alone a player.

As had been variously said already, Ryan Rossiter - "who is this skinny kid from SI"? OD - "who is this even skinnier kid from SI"? If the kid has talent and heart, he plays from day 1. If he can give a solid 10 -12 minutes each game, he doesn't have to play 35, the team (and the kid) is better for it. No redshirt, besides, orange is the new black, not red.

He and coaches were going back and forth but based on his play in Montreal he will be eligible this year.

Patsos will play 8 or 9 and Cole believes he is in so that leaves Wolfe on the outside..... This is not a surprise .... he was set to prep....I advised he go to College and prepare there instead of coming in new a year later....He is young and his body will make great strides in a year...

If Cole is eligible that makes a 9 man rotation for this season. As a matter of fact that will be the 9 man rotation going into next season since the whole team returns. If Wolfe redshirts who does he knock out of the rotation? Teams just don't play 10 men, unless the 10th man is only getting 5 minutes or so. Just do not see how sitting on the bench just to gain muscle benefits him.
