1. What's our record after nine? 4-5 2. Who's our first win come against? Albany 3. Best shot for a major upset comes against? Day 2 of Old Spice 4. What do you hope to see from the team? Improvement throughout the season 5. What do you expect to see from the team? .500 MAAC record 6. Sleeper player. Who's the surprise player after nine? Bisping, Oliver, or Audu - they never had a shot as freshman under Mitch

Sleeper player: Hopper. He definitely will have the most time available for napping.

I won't speculate about record, I'm hoping for a lot of surprises from a hard playing team. Having seen the games in Montreal I'm curious about this pitch to red shirt Mike Wolfe. To my mind he is every bit as as advanced as J O and much better offensively than Imoh Silas. I can't recall of Siena red shirting for player development only because of injury and transfer requirements. A team which runs and presses needs all the good players it has .available. for use. Injuries and /or academic problems to multiple players can ruin a season. It seems like many on this board spent three years moaning about being undermanned . I always felt that teams like Rider, Fairfield and Iona wore the Saints down with their depth.

Add in the other factors over a long season such as fatigue, injuries and needing choices off the bench when certain players are playing well, you need all hands on deck. Only too often in any sport, what starts out as a strength on a team turns into a problem or weakness area due to unforeseen factors such as injuries, academic ineligibilities, etc.

Record of 3-6 probably would be closer but at this stage it's more about seeing a good exciting, improving team than dwell on our early record. These kids have to grow together as a team. I'm really hoping for Bisping to knock our socks off with his improved play.

I always felt that teams like Rider, Fairfield and Iona wore the Saints down with their depth. David Ryan red-shirted his freshman year for player development. I don't know what will happen with Wolfe, but it had been reported prior to his signing with Siena that he and his family were contemplating either a red-shirt year or a year of prep school. I believe he has not yet turned 18. he would clearly make a bigger contribution as a fifth-year senior than he would likely have the opportunity to make this year, barring injury.

So the first nine games look to be tough especially considering how young we are. So lets have a little fun ....... 1. What's our record after nine? 2. Who's our first win come against? 3. Best shot for a major upset comes against? 4. What do you hope to see from the team? 5. What do you expect to see from the team? 6. Sleeper player. Who's the surprise player after nine? 1. 4-5 2. Albany 3. vs. LSU/St. Joe's 4. A team that plays fast and plays hard and wins more often than it loses. 5. A team that plays fast and plays hard and learns from its mistakes. 6. I'm going with JO

Looks like Gorvy was the only one who had the correct record for Siena after nine games at 2-7. A bunch of us would have been right at 3-6 had we held on yesterday.
Some facts from our first nine opponents -
2 wins (St. Bonaventure and Cornell) combined record of 5-11 (Cornell is 0-9)
7 losses (UA, UVM, LaSalle, Memphis, St. Joe's, Purdue (twice) combined record of 30-20
Home: 1-1 Away/Neutral: 1-6
Margin of victory: 1.5 Margin of defeat: 11.3 (8.7 minues the Memphis game)
I still think we are going to be at worst 10-10 in the MAAC and very possibly better. Good chance to win the Hofstra and Fordham games at home to finish 4-7 in the non-conference part of the schedule. I think we're on track for 12-14 wins heading into the MAAC tournament this year.
