It was thought that UMass would not defer for another year. Not the worst thing to make the schedule a little bit more managable but still a very tough schedule for a young team. Siena 2013-14 OOC schedule
11/8: vs. UAlbany, 7pm 11/12: @ Vermont, 7pm 11/16: @ LaSalle, 3pm 11/19: vs. St. Bonaventure, 7pm 11/22 @ Cornell, 7pm 11/24: @ Purdue, TBA *11/28 @ Old Spice Classic vs. Memphis, 6:30pm (ESPN2) *11/29 @ Old Spice Classic, St. Joe's/LSU *12/1 @ Old Spice Classic, TBD 12/23 vs. Hofstra, 7pm 12/30 Fordham, 7pm

St. Joe's is a little more vulnerable now that CJ Aiken went pro and Carl Jones graduated. Tough to replace a guy who averages 100 blocks a year AND your leading scorer. I doubt they're a even close to a top 100 defense now.
That's a winnable game.
LSU probably not but I doubt St. Joe's wins that game.
If we lose, we could be playing Butler on the last day. Not sure how they'll fare without any upperclass stars or Brad Stevens.
So Memphis, St. Joes, Butler most likely. We won't even get to see someone we haven't seen before. This schedule is like Fran's greatest hits.

I think if we're in the 7th place game we likely are playing Washington State. Butler will beat them IMO. I don't think 0-3 is automatic but it will be tough to avoid. Marist beat Vanderbilt last year. This OOC schedule is very very tough... right now I'd sign for 4-7 if we can go 12-8 in the MAAC that's a winning season going into the MAAC tournament. That's my goal for the team is to have a winning season in Jimmy's first year...anything more is a nice bonus.

You're sure that Butler will beat them without Rotney Clarke, Andrew Smith..OR Brad Stevens? You've basically just assured Butler going 0-3. Washington St. isn't that good but Brad Stevens is a genius. Don't underestimate that fact.

Nobody would care about the name Brad Stevens if the groundwork hadn't first been laid by Todd Lickliter, who foolishly flamed out at Iowa.
