Did Buie get bounced from Hofstra?
If he got bounced then IMO Siena should not accept him.
Siena has a first rate academic reputation to protect and I do not want Siena to be know as an "outlaw school".
If Buie left Hofstra by mutual decision then IMO Siena should accept him.

Didn't he leave because Mo Cassara got fired? His suspension was early in the year

I have seen it mentioned that perhaps Siena is waiting to see if Buie is granted a waiver to play this season, before deciding to admit him to the school. Wouldn't a player have to be enrolled in a school before he can apply for a waiver?, or can a player apply for a waiver prior to being enrolled in a school?

The school applies for the waiver, not the player. As it was explained to me, the player must be enrolled at the school and then the school makes the waiver application.

As a Siena alum who lives on Long Island and happens to follow both schools basketball programs, I can say that there was a definite sense of Hofstra not wanting Buie back next year because of the off court issues he's had. I get the feeling that a mutual agreement was made for him to leave because it would make it easier for Buie to continue his education elsewhere. Also, he did not leave because Mo Cassara was fired, Hofstra just did not want to risk any more disciplinary issues after having 6 players arrested in one year, him being one of them. As far as him being a good player, yes he is, but he definitely was not the best on the team. It seemed to me that he was in a slump for a good chunk of the season, and was simply ineffective. The team was largely lead by David Imes and Stevie Mejia. Buie was not named to any of the all-CAA teams at the conference tournament, he just simply did not post the numbers that he had the potential to. www.caasports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=43048&SPID=3455&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=8500&ATCLID=206674360

Not sure I agree with that- Buie was leading scorer on a team that couldn’t score- in fact Cassara's offense made Mitch's offense look up-tempo- as one of the few legitimate players on Hofstra last year Taran was a marked man- and many of his shots were with two guys hanging all over him and shot clock expiring . Taran is a up-tempo player who will thrive in Jimmy’s system. Siena currently has nobody to play the two—and those of you that think Poole can give you 25 min at the two are only kidding yourself. Only Jimmy and D’arg can answer the question if they think Taran has learned his lesson – if he has Taran immediately becomes the most talented player on the team and one of the most talented in the MAAC . Taran is a risk no doubt - but the potential payoff is great
