Buie says he is totally focused on playing for Siena and has followed Siena basketball since he was a kid. He says he is "thinking of wearing the Green and Yellow". Interesting, Siena's colors are green and gold.

I like reading that he is totally committed/focused on being a Saint. With his family medical issue and Jimmy having a long history of successfully saving kids like Taran I hope we see suiting up for the Saints for the next two years!

Interesting, Siena's colors are green and gold. Lol. Yeah Siena was his number three school when he was being recruited out of high school. Siena is his last stop, let us all be honest, this kid has limited choices. Hopefully it will work out for the best.

Hey he's a local kid ... In the Franciscan tradition Siena should give him the chance to reform and get back on track with his life IMO

Hey he's a local kid ... In the Franciscan tradition Siena should give him the chance to reform and get back on track with his life IMO Don't act like Jimmy is now doing God's work and Siena is trying to provide him a second chance. They only want him if he can play right away and Cole doesn't get a waiver. Siena is his only shot at a waiver and D1 right now so of course hes going to kiss ass cause no one wants him

Mark Singelais@marksingelais8h "I'm doing everything in my power to convince people that it would be a great situation (at Siena),'' Taran Buie said. Taran Buie said he has yet to hear from Siena whether he'll be admitted. He met with AD John D'Argenio last week. Buie had disciplinary problems at Penn State and Hofstra. He said repeatedly today that he has learned from his mistakes. "I've grown up a lot since I was a young kid. I'm a man now,'' Taran Buie said. "I'm doing all the right things."
I think Buie's chances depend on Cole getting his waiver or not and of course the NCAA allowing him to play right away at Siena.

I don’t think one has anything to do with the other MTS- Cole is unlikely to get waiver- although you never know--- Buie on other hand is very likely to get waiver. Regardless of what happens with Cole, Siena will sign Buie if they think kid has learned his lesson and will be a good student athlete. If the Siena brain trust ( Fr Kevin Darg and Jimmy) don’t think the kid has learned his lesson or wont “fit in” at Siena then Siena will pass on him- pretty simple really. For right now I’m fine either way it goes- I'll have confidence they will make right decision

To be clear, Taran Buie was NOT one of the four Hofstra players involved in the theft ring.

But he was suspended for failing a drug test at Hofstra. I don't believe Siena will pull the trigger on this - unless Buie agrees to walk-on without a scholarship. Too much of a history being an idiot.

He was also number 6 from Hofstra to get arrested that season.... He was caught driving without a license in mid-March. He's had at least 3 strikes, between Hofstra and Penn State, so I doubt he's going to change.

I do see the hypocrisy of the Buie situation when you consider Brookins. But I'm almost certain you're going to see Buie in a Siena uniform next year. I think Patsos can keep him on the straight and narrow. He has a 3.0 GPA, he's certainly smart enough but he has shown questionable judgement. People can mature and change for the better. Lets hope that's the case.

Lets hope that's the case. You put Buie on a zero tolerance policy - first mistake and he's history. Brookins had no structure at Siena. He was under a coach that obviously let the inmates run the asylum. I'm confident with Patsos history that would not be the case. I think taking Buie is low risk high reward.
