A few thoughts:
1. Buie's legal problems were before he went to Hofstra. 2. He reportedly did pretty well academically at Hofstra. 3. He would provide an experienced SG next year. 4. If he is not eligible in 2013-14, I would definitely pass because.Cole will be eligible the following year,

Thoughts..,,... Worth the risk? Buie is a very talented player, but is a really bad kid. No way is he worth the risk. PASS

If he is eligible this year- if grades are decent- I’d take him.

Unless he already graduated, no chance he's eligible for '13-'14 season. He can't claim a hardship waiver when his family is in Penn. Even if they moved back to Albany, that's too close to Hofstra.

I’m not convinced it’s as certain as you claim. But obviously if Buie can’t play this year, I don’t think it would be worth tying up a scholarship for two years and only get one year out of him ( especially since we have Cole next year)

I'm a big fan of Buie as a player, not as a student or person. He believes (probably with reason) that he's "big time" and probably expected to be in the NBA by now.

Not eligible Grades won't be decent After the Brookins/Burdine incidents, do you really want a kid like this as you try to rebuild a once proud program? Especially hooking up with his old gang of bad influences he left behind a few years ago. Not the time to bring in a kid like this. IF we were a player away and had very little options, maybe worth the risk. Not when we're on the ground floor of re-building a new program.

Taran is not a shooter. He's not a PG. He's only 6-2 and he doesn't finish well at the rim.
He just never met the hype. I'd take Burdine back 1,000 times before even considering him.

I believe that Jimmy said during one of his pressers that he was open to take some "academic risks" and, where appropriate, give some "second chances." But he also stressed he would be involved with high character kids. If he is really considering Buie with his track record we must be really bad off at the 2G

Bring him back in this area, where he has already lived, already knows where to find trouble, pass.
