I think Jimmy can get us where Deane, Hewitt and McCaffery had the program and with some luck maybe even beyond that. If Jimmy could build a winning program and get Loyola to the NCAAs...then he should really be able to do many great things at Siena with the resources and tradition we have.
Siena has had patches of big time success but failing to replace elite coaches is the reason why we aren't at the Butler, VCU, Xavier level yet. But I do think this program is a sleeping giant. I hope the A10 believes that too and invites Siena down the road!
The key will be to get the players and coach them up with a winning system. Long and Wright are a nice start to that!

The departure of Mitch was of course the right way to go and I am among the most optimistic about the programs future potential with Coach Jimmy.
Nonetheless, this article diminishes itself by using the term "stink etc" we all know about the last 3 years.
This article is low class. It is not what we at Siena want. We appreciate the recognition, but lets do it with some respect and dignity and class.
Call me old fashioned but I dont kick a man when he is down
Lets Go Saints....... and if you were not at the Banquet and live within 100 miles shame on you.
Also if you were at the banquet then add to my Top 10 List Post

The article wasn't low class at all - I actually think it was well written and showed that Siena can be an elite mid-major with the right leadership.
The PW will have made over $1M dollars over 4 years. In the meantime he hurt the program that was on the verge of being a national mid-major program. It's over so it's time to move forward to hopefully a successful run with Jimmy Patsos but forgive me if I don't forget what the PW did to our beloved program.

I agree. Mitch stunk the place up to put it mildly.

John 8:7. "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."
Please stop.

I agree bballer, let's stay classy. For those at the banquet, Patsos said it well, Mitch gave it his best. He was a quality assistant and was partly responsible for the high level of success during his tenure as an assistant. Let's move on without kicking the program while it was down. We are Siena fans after all and we support the program through thick and thin and not just when it is on top.

Agree with A66 and Bill Murray. If you ever met Mitch you would know he was a good guy. Maybe the PW but still a good person. This article lost all credibility when it used that phrase. Go Saints! Go Jimmy P!

I hope the writer saying Jimmy took over a struggling Siena program didnÂ’t offend you guys too much ..seriously you guys are too sensitive sometimes.. . I don't have a problem with the article taken as a whole, just focusing on the single low class comment. The overall tenor of the piece is quite positive there is no need to focus on the negative. I think it is time to live in the present.

I think it is time to live in the present. It's an editorial, and he's got a sense of humor, not everything needs to be written with pristine etiquette. The sentence in question is intentionally low brow and is entertaining to a wide audience. Besides, functionally the noun "stink" communicates as ocean of context that is actually pretty inciteful. I say fair play to the queen (oi sometimes walking on eggshells is exhausting, case in point, I feel the need to clarify up front that this is a reference to an Eddie Izard bit about the actual queen on England, and is in no way derogatory).

Everyone has a different set of values. I thought the article was well written with the exception of the "stink" phrase which was classless. But then again many thought that Patsos "F" bomb was OK while others thought it lacked class. Is it a different generation, a different individual upbringing or the development of individual standards?

My personal take on it is that it was a comment on the failure of the era, not a personal attack on the man. Was it meant to grab the attention of the reader? Definitely (and by the posts I'd say it succeeded). Was it meant as a verbal assault on the prior coach? I wouldn't say so.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but to call the article or the author classless is a little more than I'm willing to do.
