I wouldn't be surprised if the A10 ship has sailed. They have 12 teams now and I don't see anyone that looks poised to make a move. The rumors are the A10 always wants to be at 14. When St. Louis/Dayton (or Richmond) leave then Siena will get the call. It sucks that we have to wait but thanks to the PW it's the situation we are currently in. All we can do is get better and get back to drilling the MAAC. Jimmy needs to get the job done and I'm confident everything will take care of itself.

tHE pw DID A LOT OF DAMAGE. HOWEVER, IF YOU LOOK AT WHAT THE pw DID AT sIENA IT IS VERY CLOSE TO WHAT HE DID AT ff.
He can't recruit and was a poor coach.
Fr. Kevin and D'Arg are the ones to blame for blind plitacal nepotism. $ 1M + in lost revenues, donatons, sponsorships, plus PW's outrageous 4 year contract. I guess if JP succeeds and Siena gets an invite to the A-10 those two will then step up and sing their own praises..
Those two deserve to be ____???
Too big to fail at Siena basketball level.

70- was thinking the SAME thing.... everyone (and MTS daily) blames this on Mitch... come on, the dude should have NEVER been hired in the 1st place.... he wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to make a lot more money and be a HC again, but the job should have never been extended to him... because of all the "love" for Patsos, people forget the current admin that hired Jimmy (who was a lot of peoples 3rd choice or more, looking at you MTS) is as much at fault for what happened the last 3 years.... if you see a fire, you put it out, you don't wave at it and hope it goes out on its own. Mitch was in over his head from day one, Siena not being proactive and NOT hiring him, or righting that wrong quick is a main reason Siena is where it is now..... A-10 or no A-10, they have a lot of work to do on all ends.....

A-10 or no A-10, they have a lot of work to do on all ends..... Where did I give the Siena admin a pass? Of course it's on them ultimately. They hired Beyer, Lanier and Buonaguro - three complete duds. The PW is an easy target because of the state he left the program in regardless of who hired him. Mitch never should have been hired so of course it's on the higher-ups. But he should have been cut loose after the first season for sure. Whoever gave him a four year guaranteed contract should be fired. As far as Patsos goes - yes I had Toole ahead of him but looking at the entire picture he's the right man for the job now. Toole was a guy to follow Fran to continue the program on a high level. Patsos is the right guy to rebuild the program. Anyway, it's over.. time to get back to winning big and hopefully we get another crack at the A10 down the road.

The rumors are the A10 always wants to be at 14. I dunno if that's true, but if it is, then our chances are still good.

Sad news. I hope the fans are still willing to get tickets to the nec... For how long though.

Keep the faith ladies and gentlemen - everything I've read/heard the A10 wants 14 teams and it's only a matter of time before St. Louis and either Richmond or more likely Dayton leave. Then I think Siena and Charleston go and they settle with 14 programs.
It sucks though we have to wait... kinda like George Mason had to wait last year but they got in this year. It would have been nice to have the invite for recruiting but we just need to start winning games again that's the bottom line!
From the A10 board- A10BBall is a poster "in the know"
Ok.. so Davidson is here. What is next?
The conference will not stay at 12. It will go to 14 for a couple reasons but that will be for later discussions.
Siena will be the next school heading over.
COC could be after that. The conference recognizes the obvious is probably here. Now when Siena gets the invite is the question. The Presidents and their formula likes Siena greatly. In this scenario, they will probably offer the invites once Richmond/Dayton (I am on record saying that Dayton goes) and STL give the A-10 leadership a heads up. It should be mentioned that A-10 leadership and the schools have a very open relationship and have been encouraged to just give the conference a heads up if something is going on. No hard feelings, business is business, no one is going to get blackballed. Some conferences should learn how to follow suit i.e. CAA..
From a LaSalle insider-
Siena is absolutely in the discussions and will be invited. Siena was not going to join for the 2013 year anyways, it was going to be for the 2014 year so the timing is less important.
The A-10 believes 14 teams is the perfect number.
It wants to become a basketball, east coast based centric conference..
Read into that as you may

I really apologize for bringing this up on your boards. I still think Siena is getting into the A-10, because there are rumors of more schools leaving.

elshaqtus, the point is, as you stated, these are rumors. They can and should be discussed but to be taken as gospel is beyond absurd. I'm all for the move as long as the A10 isn't pillaged completely after Siena steps in.

Racer, Siena needs to be in the A10 even if it becomes the new MAAC. Because the Old Maac is the new NEC.
