Just posted on the A-10 board that Davidson will reject the A-10 and stay in the SoCon.
Good luck to the Saints getting an invite. I'm pulling for you guys (because of the implications for Saint Louis).

Here's the exact post To get back to the original topic.-I was informed by a current athlete here that the move to the A-10 has been shot down somewhere along the way up the administration. Was not mentioned where or why it got shot down, but according to at least one athlete they were told we are not going to be making the move.www.davidsoncats.com/viewtopic.php?t=17514&start=345Hope this poster's information is correct! We should be hearing something very soon hopefully! A10's meetings are in a few weeks.

If they were offered a spot in the A-10 - IMO It makes a ton of sense for Davidson to pass. Nothing about the A-10 seems like a 'right fit' for Davidson.

Several reasons- Davidsons’s academic standards are quite high, they consider themselves the “Princeton” of the south. A move to the A10 would require them to loosen up the type athlete they would recruit. As a conference outlier they would have considerable travel costs and more important than that, quite a bit of lost class time. Davidson current men’s basketball budget is approx 1.7 million, that budget would have to increase quite a bit, Davidson has like 1700 students, they are in the heart of ACC Country , with attendance of about 4K, their tickets are quite reasonable… I have no idea how much was to the Davidson to the A10 talk anyway..only person that reported it was Goodman, but at any rate, who knows what is going on. That was one poster on a message board saying that DC would stay “put” . Hang tight guys this will all work itself out over next few weeks
This conference change happens so fast sometimes who knows what is going on

I can understand why this might be so, but I'm not sure the "rumor" from one current athlete is enough to go to the bank with this "report". Would be good for Siena if true, but let's wait and see how it officially plays out.

Plus one other poster said the opposite in the same thread.

Speaking from a conference outlier's standpoint, travel is irrelevant.
If that's part of the problem, I'd rather have someone else.

I wouldn't be surprised if the A10 ship has sailed.
They have 12 teams now and I don't see anyone that looks poised to make a move.

I just don't see it. I think the powers that be are happy being a big fish in a shrinking pond. I really hope that Fairfield doesn't bolt for either the Patriot or CAA.

No problem- if they do the MAAC will just add Wagner
