Have you guys looked around the league?
Momo: Gone Green: Gone Needham: Gone Wade: Gone Thompson: Gone Ffrench: Gone RJ Williams: Gone
Only Baron, Alvarado and Sledge are veterans...and only Sledge has a size or speed combo that would give Hymes trouble. And Hymes usually plays well vs. CC and Manhattan.
The speed and experience is gone from the PG position. Our PGs are the fastest in the league and Hymes is now one of the old men of the league.
Now is not the time to be casting the fastest PG in the league aside, it's the time to make the league pay for losing it's PG speed.

It really simple if Patsos handles it right ... Hymes turns the ball over he rides the pine & if he doesn't he plays. You'll know in the first few games if Hymes has got it or not!

If Jimmy did not think Evan would help him, he clearly had no obligation to take him back after Hymes announced he was transfering. No only did he take him back, he made numerous public statements that he hoped Even would stay. What Jimmy did was not to be politically correct, but rather it was what he thought was in the best interest of the success of the 2013-14 team.

What he wants and what the reality of the situation is remains to be seen. Can Evan step up or not? That's the big question.

Hymes may not be the pure PG that Wright is, but he is still the fastest guy on the court at all times with the ball in his hands.
He puts points on the board and makes his FTs. Get him pressing and he'll start forcing TOs.
Except for that stretch in the OOC last year, Hymes' turnovers haven't been THAT bad. And most of it was a product of the system.
He could be a career 1000 pt scorer before 2013 is over.

If he didn't think Hymes is an important piece of the puzzle, he wouldn't be insistant that he wants him back. Patsos has run serveral practices now and has seen what Hymes can do running his up-temp system. I'll trust what Patsos has observed over the speculation of the armchair quarterbacks on this board with no coaching experience. And if for some reason Hymes can't get it done, then Wright is ready to go. Either way, I like our backup PG option.

(1.13) While that's not particularly great for a PG, he was playing in a system that didn't cater to his strengths, at all. Hymes speed wasn't particularly utilized on defense or offense. You don't get assists on an OD post feed. Plus, aside from Poole last year, most of Hymes time has been spent playing alongside guards who shoot threes at a 20% clip. Brookins/Downey etc. Teams leave those guys open from three on purpose.

KK do you think the pg needs to score ? RJ never scored a ton of points ...he used his speed to set his teamates up

KK do you think the pg needs to score ? RJ never scored a ton of points ...he used his speed to set his teamates up Depends on who is on the team. If baby Long, Poole, Burdine and their cohorts put points on the board like they're capable of then they don't have to score to win in this league. Teams are definitely more explosive offensively when their PGs score though. I think they should platoon 50/50. They are both fast. Both should have positive assist ratios. Hymes brings a ballsy dynamic to us. At the end of a shot clock, he can always just shoot from 30 and make it a 3rd of the time. This kid has already made a ton of big shots for us. Wright's weakness is probably his shooting and Hymes' strength is that he's a good shooter. Better than his stats indicate. If Patsos somehow was able to get Hymes open from even just 23 ft away the kid could approach 40%.

IF Hymes plays more than 15 min a night, we're in trouble.

IF Hymes plays more than 15 min a night, we're in trouble. Why? If Hymes starts, will we be mauled by zombies riding astride wild cougars? That would be really really scary. In that case, you're right.

I agree kk. People quick to judge Hymes should keep in mind that there are very few pg that would look good in a system seemingly designed to jack up contested 30 foot shots at the end of the shot clock.
