I'd welcome Evan back with open arms. Don't think it's a surprise that with Rakeem being in trouble and likely dismissed soon that Evan would reconsider his decisions. Perhaps his family situation is in a better place too. One thing with Evan - he's a great kid. You don't have to worry about this nonsense with him!
We need an influx of talent but losing both Hymes and Brookins would be tough. Most people thought one would go and one would stay.

Hymes played well his freshman year, I think under the right circumstances as a backup guard he would be fine. He could fill a Tay type roll. I can see him coming off the bench knocking down a couple of quick 3's and provide a spark. I think when asked not to do so much he will surprise!

I hope he stays as well. I think he might be taught how to make better decisions by the new coaching staff and he's a good kid.

Hopefully Patsos can convince him to stay- he is a talented player- parts of his game need polishing but he has talent and is worth keeping- sometimes these kids make knee jerk reactions to a change in coach

I'd like to see Hymes finish his college days at Siena. Good kid with alot of energy and a great competitive spirit. I agree with other posters, he has a ton of talent that just needs a little tweeking.

Sorry, but keeping him would be a huge mistake. This program needs a flushing. Guaranteed in the opposong locker room, teams started with, "Hymes won't defensd you, get whatever you want." and offensively it would be, " loves 30 fters, won't create for teammates.
New kid needs to get 35 min a night for next 4 years. Not last years starter bitching behind his back about no playing time.

I am really torn on this one. On the one hand, from the interactions I have had with Evan, he is a sincere, respectful young man. However, based on this season, I have questions about whether he is part of the solution or part of the problem. As far as I know, no one at Siena told him to leave, and Jimmy has presumably moved ahead with recruiting based on Evan's decision to transfer. I don't think we can be successful with him at the point and I don't think his overall talent justifies major minutes (more than 15-20 a game). If I were the coach (thankfully for all of us, that will never happen), I would have to be convinced that he would fully buy into a limited, off the bench role, perhaps as instant offense a la Tay.
Assuming Jimmy can get Long, Wright and Marcius, the math does not work for Evan to return without two additional departures. Brookins would appear to be one, and based on what has been reported with respect to the statements given to police, there would seem to be a possibility that Burdine also may not return. Given that I had both Budine and Brookins in Jimmy's playing group, that may not be desirable from the perspective of the available playing group, but the behavior is inexcusable. I would rather have quality young men than quality basketball players if I had to make the choice, but I think Jimmy can and will recruit kids who are both.

I would take a good kid like Evan over Cheech and Chong any day of the week.

As I have said, letting a freshman run the team could make it a long season next year. Freshman need support to learn what they did wrong in their role.
It would be weird if Brookins and Hymes both go and that would leave Lepp as only point guard with experience.
...I'm NOT suggesting all three of them completely run the team, but you got to have somebody that knows the offense at the beginning of the year and can mentor the freshman a little bit, and gradually give the freshman control of the offense.

I agree with Knicksaint, I think Evan would be good in the Tay Fisher role off the bench. He's not a good defender but for 8-10 he can get you some instant offense with some threes. He just can't be a 30-35 minute player if Siena is going to get back to the top of the MAAC.
While he's not as good a shooter as Tay he has deep range and the kid has some onions on him too. If he's willing to buy in and be the 8th man off the bench I think he can be a very useful role player for us.
Let's see what he can do in a REAL offensive system.

Re Evan, he may be a nice kid but as a player he is a liability both as a defender and a playmaker and he is a turnover machine. We would be better off with the vacancy. I can't believe that we couldn't come up with a more productive player.

Give the kid a role and I bet he can fill it. Under Mitch he was asked to do way too much as a frosh and even more so last year. I understand injuries and the like but think that he could contribute in a more diminished albiet structured role.
